Naruto Manga 614 Impressions and 615 Predictions

I read chapter 614 of the manga today and I enjoyed it. Neji's death saddened me, but it seemed a bit... out of place... compared to the deaths in 613. As for chapter 615 coming up, I have to wonder if Naruto and Hinata's relationship may strengthen, maybe even romantically, since Hinata not only was willing to die for Naruto (once again), but also because Neji reinforced those feelings through his words and sacrifice. And, of course, the fight with the juubi will continue.

So what do you guys think?

Naruto will once again aside Hinata, just like last time and battle on. There's no time to grief on the war grounds, no time for unnecessary bonding.

All I think there is in the next chapter will be more talk between Tobito and Naruto and some shots at some candidates who may be in danger of dying.

Yeah that's what I think too. When I said I think Naruto and Hinata may strengthen their relationship, romantic or not, I meant through mutual feelings and teamwork rather than Madara and Obito patiently waiting for them to kiss or something lol. It's anime though, so you never do know what may happen during a fight haha.

When I support NaruHina, I'm talking about the next generation, not kissing on the battle field.
This is a common (and weird, and annoying) mistake that so many have - that shipping means immediate bonding and actual action on-screen.
But they're still very young, so it's rather about their future, not current romance.
And THAT I support fully - Hinata is very fitting for Naruto as a WIFE, not mere GIRLFRIEND.

Back on topic:
I predict TnJ finaly triggering, since Tobito already looks shocked.
I'd say, Neji achieved the victory in the long run by tipping the scales of Tobito's mind towards repentance.

Nice predictions. I didn't originally interpret Obito's reaction as guilt or repentance, but it'd be interesting if it turned out that way. I interpreted it as disgust at Naruto's "inability" to protect his friends. And I agree totally with you about NaruHina. A great example of that kind of couple representation is Edward Elric and Winry Rockbell from Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. They have inner feelings for each other that eventually shows them being married without any dating or kissing, and I thought it was well done.

I've read a fanfic where Naruto actually made it into an official "jutsu", though really funny part is that the first one to use it was... Obito (NOT Tobito, it's a time-travel fic of Team 7, where Kakashi saved his team).

Nice. Can't wait til I can watch Road to Ninja, because that movie apparently goes into Obito activating Infinite Tsukoyomi.

I was hoping that what Neji said to Naruto will open his eyes and he will move past his crush on Sakura and actually see Hinata. Shes always willing to die for him.

I think maybe Obito will realize that he isnt evil after seeing Neji die for Hinata and Naruto, since he did tell Madara he never thought of him as an ally.

I don't think this point in the story is the time or the place for pushing the romantic angle.

If/when Madara activates the Infinite Tsukyome to trap everyone in their fantasy world it will be interesting to see what kind of ship tease Kishi pushes, as that would pretty much be the perfect opportunity for it.

Well my short term and mid term predictions from last time got screwed up by this last chapter.

Even with Neji's death I think the only members of Naruto's group that are at risk are Tenten, Kiba, and Shino. The old farts are still the most likely to go at this point.

The statement that Tobi has to sacrifice himself to properly revive Madara before Infinite Tsukyome can be activated really screws up the way I thought things will play out... I assumed they would activate it, Naruto would reject the fantasy for reality and Tobi would have a change of heart... that is completely thrown out the window with this new twist.

I still think in the long term there will be a short post-war arc that shows the world uniting under Naruto's message of peace and friendship, and then Naruto and Sasuke will have one final showdown.

Tobi trolled WAY harder than Madara this chapter. DAMN.

"Hey Naruto...I thought you said you weren't going to let me kill any of your friends."

And what an unexpected sacrifice. RIP Neji. I had so much respect for his character. I should've known that Kishi was setting him up to make an exit by the fact that he actually got some time on panel to demonstrate his skill.

I'm not holding my breath for Tobi to Rinne Tensei everyone this time around lol.

I personally am still waiting for the five kage to make a re-entry. They should be getting back on the battlefield pretty soon.

Some of the Kages should be able to show up soon. And Since Naruto got into Sage mode, do you think long enough time has passed for Kurama to come back and maybe he finds a way to mix his chakra with the Sage chakra since it's closer to the Juubi's?
