No pein revived everyone to show that he had changed side, therefore in that context it made sence, over this war though their are better things that can be done by changing sides than reviving people (saving everyone who is still alive)
Neji died because now Naruto has seen someone close to him die he can get "angry" and his opinions always come across better when he is angry. Also Naruto needs to see someone die and stay dead, it builds character for him becoming hokage.
Killing characters isn't being a bastard, if anything it's creating a stronger storyline.

Wow first Shikaku, Inoichi and everyone else from the head quarters now Neji I didn't expect someone like him to die it is pretty sad. When I saw Hinata defending Naruto from the attack and saw someone else jump right in front and took the hit I thought it was her father Hiashi at first until I saw it was Neji and im like holy sh!t is he actually gonna be one of the characters to die? As I saw the mark on his head vanish I knew you would since death is the only thing he would be free from and he did what his father did protect his family. And it was something when he said to Naruto that Hinata would always protect him that seemed like a good NaruHina moment right there.

Sadly, I stumbled upon a random members siggy stating said topic and I almost cried on spot. I will not continue to dig into his death but I will say I am very very PISSED.
