Happy Holidays. It keeps things like your religious preferences private (if you're private about it) and it doesn't make it look like you're assuming something about the other person or judging them in any way.

If I said Merry Christmas, I wouldn't care if they just said back, 'Happy Hanukkah' or whatever they celebrate.
However, I do not wish to sit and listen to a 20 minute lecture. I'm just sticking with merry Christmas. Deal with it.

^Technically, everyone doesn't since it's a Christian holiday, hence Happy Holidays.
I say Happy Holidays on a professional level, Merry Christmas on a personal level. |
