Do You Prefer "Merry Christmas" or "Happy Holidays"?

Which do you say? I personally say Merry Christmas, unless I know for a FACT that the person I'm speaking to celebrates another holiday, ie Hanukkah, etc. Would you get offended if someone said Happy Hanukkah or Happy Kwanzaa to you and you don't celebrate it?

Don't forget to put in your vote! I'm curious to know what majority rules. =)

I do the same thing
If I know person its Merry Christmas and if its someone I don't know then yes its Happy Holidays.

I say Merry Christmas. I've never said Happy Holidays ever cause nobody I know celebrates anything else. I wouldn't get offended if someone else said something to me that I don't celebrate.

I like to say Merry Christmas and it wouldn't offend me if someone said Happy Hanukkah or Happy Kwanzaa I would just say it back to them.

I don't really celebrate holidays. I kind of just do it because my family does it. I usually don't say anything about Happy Holidays or anything, but I do give someone a nod. I don't like to make anything seem more important on one day than it is anymore. Like Thanksgiving, I don't give thanks on a particular day. I do it when I feel like it. I don't celebrate the birth of Jesus on Christmas, because December 25th wasn't his birthday, and in fact was a pagan holiday. I'd rather celebrate the existence of God as a whole. So, I don't really say anything. I rarely tell anyone happy birthday either.

I say Merry Christmas and if they aren't Christian I don't say anything unless they say something too me, I'd tell them like you too or something.

(not to be rude to non-Christians but I'm not comfortable with someone telling me a generic term so I wouldn't give them a generic term either)

Edit: If someone told me happy hanukah or happy quanza no I wouldn't get offended I would think it was funny but if someone told me happy holidays I wouldn't really like it but I still wouldn't get offended (most of the time)

Christmas for the most part is a corporate trap to get people to spend money, so I have no qualms with saying, Merry christmas.

Hell it's always merry because I get to see family and eat good food. Why in the hell would I care if some idiot is offended by the greeting?

Xmas is downright offensive to me. When people say Happy holidays I understand, but I don't prefer it. Saying Merry Xmas or anything of the like.... irks me. to no end.

Even if you aren't Christian and you choose to celebrate it.... which I find odd considering it is celebrating Jesus' birth, but if so, make Christians feel better and say Christmas.

I normally say "Merry Christmas" only because that's what everyone in my family says, whether their religious or not.

Um sorry, but no. And to me it's a day of giving and family. (I don't really need to be part of a religion for this..) Not really celebrating the birth of Jesus (I'm sure not that much people actually even do this). And a different way of saying something like this shouldn't really get you all mad. It isn't really a big deal. :T

Noooo, that would be other.. I don't like the use of Xmas either. Totally takes Christ out of the holiday. So you should just not bother saying it at all. Just my opinion, not tryin to be mean. =)

It's a big deal to some people. But it's okay, everyone is raised differently.

My opinion: The point of Christmas is that it is the birth of Jesus. Non religious people tend to celebrate it because other religions celebrate during this time, and I respect that. However, if you choose to celebrate Christmas of all those holidays, at least write out/type out Christmas instead of Xmas. It annoys Christians to no end. The true meaning of Christmas is to celebrate Jesus' birth. Giving and thankfulness is understandable if you aren't religious, however...

At least spell it out with Christ. Replacing Christ with an X is just... annoys everyone and is just about my biggest pet peeve.

@ Kitty - Well like I said I do not celebrate Christ. Which people should respect. and that is true. Being raised different. Though my parents tried to raised me to say Christmas instead of Xmas. And I get somewhat annoyed at people who do this. Being mad at people saying Xmas or Happy Holidays. You probably get my point e.e

@Obito - Well our opinions aren't the same. That's all I can really say.
