Guy can make the hand seal and use Hidora before Kakashi can reveal his headband and kaumi it away.... even if Kakashi could kaumi something the size of a bijju Guy can still go gates afterwards and punish Kakashi

Assuming Kakashi can't take his headband off fast enough to Kamui Guy before he uses Hirudora he can now Kamui himself to avoid the attack. Kakashi wins this battle easily. He has shown that he can keep up with Guy well, has a much larger jutsu arsenal and his Kamui is now even more broken than before.

I'm for Gai here, assuming Kishi didn't just make a mistake and Gai can now use Hirudora in base he can use one of the strongest moves in the show instantly.

But instantly using Kamui and Hirudora is out of character for both of them. If they started off fighting in base Gai would have the advantage because he's better in taijutsu, then Kakashi would start using techniques and Gai would lose the upper hand, then Gai would start powering up with the gates and then Kakashi would have to use Kamui. The fight would come down to who executes their move with the best timing. But any fan can just say their character is better and give feats, hype, etc.

Kishi has made this the big Jiraiya vs. Oro, the PTS Naruto vs PTS Sasuke of the manga. We can debate all night long about who can beat whom. He knows both characters have enormous fandoms and he consistently scales them both in accordance with one another.

So why can't Kakashi in theory use a Bunshin trick on Gai immediately in conjunction with Kamui?

It's plausible.... yet Hidora is not a single direct attack. It covers a large area. It may not be as powerful as Afternoon tiger in gated form but it is still a covers enough of the land to hit both clone Kakashi and the imposter.

I do not believe Kakashi can make a clone while unvealing his headband while switching to Kaumi

Also if Kakashi makes a clone and tries to switch to MS while revealing his eye than that gives time for Guy to go into gates.

Plus Guy use Hidora when he was near death once so he could do it twice from the get go AT LEAST

Hidora is around the size of Sussanoo so it would take a lil bit of time for Kakashi to Kaumi it away.... in that time Guy can go gates or fire another Hidora

Kakashi has a tendency to go underground as well with his jutsu.

Also, Kakashi apparently can Kamui himself.

Yes Kakashi could go underground... but he is only stalling. This gives Guy time to go gates. I think Hidora tore up most of the ground when Guy used it in base. Either way Guy has more time. Kakashi is just running away instead of fighting

Yes Kakashi can kaumi himself but it is still new to him so it would be slower besides if he uses kaumi on himself then that is LEAVING THE BATTLEFIELD which by BG standards means Kakashi forfeit the match thus losing. Plus it would be obvious when he comes back to fight

You recall correctly but it took a lot out of him. If he tried to Kaumi hidora Guy can still attack while Kakashi is doing this

Plus combine that with a clone.

Kakashi can kamui almost instanteously now at least thats what Tobi found out.
