Minato vs Itachi

Hint: in the battlegrounds, one usually explains why the person wins. (Sometimes it's your fav character loses ) It prevents being harassed by crazy fanchildren


My answer: I also think Itachi wins. He can place Minato under genjutsu and just go from there. Because I doubt Minato can take down Itachi without looking at him.

Oh God please no. This thread gets absolutely nowhere every single time it's done. The only difference this go around is that Itachi has Izanami but every single Minato fan will say that Itachi doesn't get the prep time to use it or that it wouldn't work on someone like Minato.

The logical choice (and this is coming from someone who doesn't favor either character) is that in a majority of fights Itachi wins. He has more feats, more jutsu, and hax techniques. The only real strategies that Minato can use are evading until Itachi gets tired of using his MS techniques (which just becomes a question of who's smart enough to trap or avoid the other) or speedblitzing if the starting distance is too small.

Given that the starting distance wasn't specified I'd assume that means we use standard BG conditions. At a 50 meter distance, I'm almost positive Minato can win by speedblitz. At that distance both A and Minato are so fast that the only people I'd say could realistically survive their attacks without some sort of regen. are Obito, Gated Gai, Cloaked Bee, SM Kabuto, Third Raikage, and RM Naruto.

With Battleground Rules-Itachi wins

Knowledge for Minato- Minato wins
Knowledge for Itachi- Itachi wins
No knowlege for either-Itachi wins

Knowledge for Both- Itachi wins
-It would take time for Minato to get out a FTG kunai and throw it well without looking at Itachi. In that time Itachi can activate Susanoo while taking out a kunai (or a kunai with a paperbomb) throwing the kunai at his FTG kunai would send both flying off course.

-Minato is not the best/faster at hand signs and perfers not using them. In the time he is making the hand seals Itachi would burn him with Amaterasu or piecrce him with Toskuta Sword

So in the time it takes for the fastest shinobi in history to pull out and throw a kunai, Itachi can not only perfectly counter that kunai but activate Susano'o as well. One question: is this before or after hell freezes over?

Minato managed to pull a kunai up and throw it in the air milliseconds before a fully powered A delivered a fatal blow. Minato also managed to close a gap just as big as standard BG conditions specify without seals, to unwrap the explosive tag covered cloth surrounding baby Naruto. His hands have been quick enough to tag expert shinobi without them realizing they'd even been touched. Only A who's mind processes information at ridiculous speeds was able to realize when Bee had been tagged after the fact.

I agree that Itachi is a master of sleight of hand but he is not fast enough to throw his kunai like Minato. You've basically turned this into and Old Western style shootout between two masters of the quickdraw, except one of them has been stated numerous times to be the fastest.

This was at the beginining of the battle right? Before Ay even started/wanting to attack? Do you mind showing me the chapter where that happened?? I'll try to look for it as well.

Itachi can move while activating Susanoo. Or if Minato tries to rush towards Itachi he would be caught in a genjutsu.

WIth Susanoo active Itachi will not be able to be tagged. Minato's rasengan can not get through Susanoo.
Plus Itachi is way smarter than anyone Minato has been able to seal.
Gama would take a few hand signs to activate and Itachi can easily get on Gama and dodge it
