Well it IS interesting as to just "Why" was Kon there and "Why" is he showing up now right next to the Royal Guards.

It's always cool seeing something from Japanese mythology hidden in a series. Not necessarily the obvious stuff like a nine tailed fox and junk, but stuff like this and Danzo's dream eater thing that I've never heard of before. It's interesting.

I'd rep you for always being the one to bring this stuff to light on this forum, but the forum is laaaaaame and won't let me. ;_;

Well its only scratching the surface really as Shutara also has tremendously deep Buddhist inspiration showing that Mayuri is also connected to Buddhism.

Shutara name carried the Kanji for Kannon making her name:
Senju Kannon or 1000 Armed Kannon.

Guanyin (Kuan-Yin) is the bodhisattva of compassion and mercy as venerated by East Asian Buddhists, usually as a female. The bodhisattva Avalokiteśvara is her male form. Within Tibetan Buddhism, she is Tara, the bodhisattva of compassionate action. In the West, Kuan-Yin is known as the Goddess of Mercy. Chinese Taoists revere her as an Immortal.

Mayuris shikai carried Jizou.
Both Kannon and Jizou are Bosatsu, beings that refrain from entering Nirvana.

Shutaras hair deco resembles the deco of other Bosatsus, a moon halo resembling light.



Both Jizou and Kannon share similar roles. There's definitely a connection between the two just like there appears to be some sort of connection between Shutara and Mayuri.

Both protect the Six Realms of Karmic Rebirth (the Six Jizo, the Six Kannon), both are patrons of motherhood & children (Koyasu Jizo, Koyasu Kannon), and both protect the souls of aborted children (Mizuko Jizo, Mizuko Kannon)

Kannon Bosatsu reaches out to those in need with her 1000 arms transporting them in a lotus heart.
I point to Shutara transporting Rukia,Renji,Byakuya and Zangetsu.

Jizou is strongly connected with death and suffering but while he saves those people Mayuri causes it.

Shutara could be the same implying and adding in furthermore onto the Jorogumo aspect that just like Mayuri she's the opposite.


And if you look right, one can see that the RG has plans with Ichigo.
Shutara carries his closest associates in her palms.
Did it never strike you as odd that Kenpachi isn't taken along?
They're all close ones to Ichigo.
His Zanpakuto,Rukia needs no explanation,Renji is like his bro and Byakuya can be compared his rival but also close associated due to Rukia.
Rukia and Renji were stabilized yet taken along while Kenpachi isn't despite his major beatdown and we KNOW how seriously it struck him.

It all could imply that Shutara is the opposite of Kannon.
She doesn't reach out to those in need but follows perhaps a devious plan with the other Royal Guards.
She could possibly be just like Mayuri further adding in to the opposition and the aspect of Jurogumo.
