Doesn't this kind of debate rage on in, like, every Naruto forum ever?
It is really quite possible that neither happens, but in the event that one does, I think it would be NaruHina.
Naruto has never expressed romantic interest in Hinata to my knowledge, but he has at least said that Hinata was beautiful(if the waterfall thing actually happened).
Likewise, since Sakura is around so much and she and Naruto never engage in any form of sexual activity, it is quite possible that the Westermarck effect will kick in and Naruto wll lose interest in Sakura. Hinata, on the other hand, is seldom seen by Naruto, and nearly each time he does see her she positively influences him. That would be conducive to Naruto falling in love with her.
From an outsider's preference point of view, NaruSaku does have the element of childhood friends getting together, but NaruHina represents an underdog victory. Both characters are heavily flavoured as underdogs, or at least Naruto is in the beginning, so Naruto can sympathise with her as well. This may be one of the main reasons there are many NaruHina fans.
Plus, Hinata's characterisation revolves chiefly around Naruto's influence on her, so if she desn't "get" Naruto, her character will remain very similar to how she started out. If Sakura "loses" (and I use that very lightly), I would consider her being friends with Naruto(and pehaps even his closest companion) a victory.
Hinata fell in love with Naruto after he selflessly protected her from bullies, getting his ass kicked thoroughly. There would be a "history repeats itself" effect if Naruto fell in love with Hinata after she defended him from Pain(and got her ass kicked thoroughly in the process).
It's quite possible that Naruto is in love with Hinata and has no idea what it is, seeing as, as Sakura herself pointed out, he couldn't observe what love was from his parents because they're dead.
Still, the fanbase is very divided and Kishimoto will please some people and displease others whoever he picks. It wouldn't be an end-of-the-world tragedy if Sakura developed interest in Naruto and they become an item.

My view on these couples in all honest is this:
Both sides I believe have credible evidence that could lead to one or the other becoming canon. With that in mind, these debates could drag on forever until Kishimoto drops a big one on us and have one pairing or the other (or none) declared.

Which is also why I feel that there comes a certain point when these little debates become very pointless. These two pairings are at a standstill and pretty soon everyone's just going to keep repeating themselves.

That said, I much prefer to just sit back and see what happens.

Thus, her feelings for Naruto have been depicted as being stronger than whatever feelings she has for Sasuke, and her feelings for Naruto have been depicted as gradually changing into romantic.

It wasn’t selfish (well, except her not cheering for Naruto because she didn't want Kiba to be mad at her), but it did show a lack of faith in Naruto. Even after all of this time, she sees him as a failure, a proud one, but a failure nonetheless.

She believed in his abilities in the Pein fight as well, focusing on doing her duty to the villagers while trusting that Naruto had things under control.

Heck, she showed her confidence in him by calling out to him when Konoha had been destroyed.

Sakura was more proactive by far. While Hinata was sitting around watching Naruto’s fight out of worry for him (way before he got caught), Sakura was saving and healing the villagers. When Hinata caused Naruto to go 6 tails, Sakura immediately evacuated the villagers so Naruto wouldn’t accidentally hurt them (which Naruto was crying in relief over), searched for Yamato (the only person she knew of that could draw Naruto back from the state that he was in), and afterwards saved Hinata’s life by healing her (another thing Naruto cried in relief over).

Hinata didn’t even try to help Naruto. She jumped in to die before Naruto could be taken away, and to get her feelings off of her chest. Name one action she took to actually help Naruto. She didn’t try to remove the rods, she didn’t try to call out to anyone else for help so she could serve as a distraction while someone else freed Naruto. No, she went out there, knowing she stood no chance against Pein, and got one-shotted, leaving Naruto just as trapped as before, only in significantly more emotional distress. Even Hinata said herself that she was just being selfish.

She is showing her instinctual faith and reliance in Naruto, which is a good thing. Yes, she was desperate, but that doesn’t make the feelings any less true. It is Naruto whom she trusts and depends on to make things better. She WAS protecting the village before (taking out one of Pein’s summons and saving/healing that little girl) unlike Hinata who was shown doing nothing except watching Naruto fight.

There is two panel of her with her teammates, one of them just standing around when Pein first attacks Konoha, and then another of them talking with one another; There are zero panels of her fighting, and you cannot even infer that she is fighting. The team obviously split up, since Kiba is shown fighting with his mom later on, as is Shino with his father and clan members (chapter 427). Hinata was only shown after the attack on Konoha, and she was with Ko, doing nothing but watching Naruto fight Pein. The fact that she was with a bodyguard, instead of fighting with her team or clan says loads of her lacking offensive abilities.

She knew that Naruto wouldn’t give up on Sasuke. If she told him her plan, he would have stopped her. She felt that she needed to kill Sasuke herself, to both take the burden of that off of anyone else (mainly Kakashi and Naruto) and because she cared about Sasuke and felt the need to do it herself.

She told Naruto that she loved him first, and to forget the promise because she wanted to ease his burdens (from what Sai told the readers in 474) and because she wanted Naruto to stop putting himself in danger by chasing Sasuke and back in the village where he would be safe (from what she told Naruto in 470).

Ultimately, Sakura had the best intentions at heart, which is why Naruto doesn’t hold anything against her.

Sakura is a normal girl because she doesn’t come from a clan or have any special blood limits or abilities. She earned her power the hard way. Her stats in all of the data book are higher than Hinata’s, and unlike Hinata, who has nearly died in her first major fight without causing any significant damage to her opponent and was one-shotted in the second without landing a single blow, Sakura tied against her rival, held off the sound trio in the Forest of Death saving Naruto and Sasuke’s lives, played an integral role in defeating Sasori – an S class missing nin-, single handedly took down one of Pein’s summons, and discovered the secret of the Zetsu’s on the battle field.

Selfless is putting the other’s person’s feelings before your own – exactly what Sakura was doing at the summit when she confessed to Naruto (clearly ignoring her own feelings in order to try and cater to Naruto’s).

Name one instance when Hinata has put Naruto’s feelings before her own.

Hinata is the one that acknowledges she is being selfish, and doesn’t think once of Naruto’s feelings, or burdens in chapter 573 when they are supposed to be on their way to help him. Instead, she is only thinking of her own feelings for Naruto – how she has been chasing him all of these years, how she wants him to wait for her, how she will be holding his hand.

Sakura, in stark contrast, is only thinking of Naruto’s burdens, and how he must be feeling, and how she can best help him shoulder those impossible burdens.

blushing is also a sign of embrassement and not just love. Yes Sakura's feelings have grown and changed in a more loving way for Naruto but those feelings do not compare to what she had... and still HAS for Saskue

The whole point of the attack on Konoha was that they were protecting Naruto and not revealing his location to Pain. Sakura yelled out for Naruto for 2 things

-Revealed and begged for Naruto to show himself to Pain which is exactly what Nagato wanted
focusing on doing her duty to the villagers

in the manga... yes... but in the anime it was much more. Regardless it was still worth more than anything Sakura did in that scene. I would respect and like Sakura more if she just tried. Name one action she took to actually help Naruto. She didn’t try to remove the rods,In the anime she did.. but do you think Hinata is good enough to take out the rods before Nagato pushed her away? She was in the battle as well but there are no feats of what she was doing. She was with her temmates then they separeted to go with their family where was she worried about Naruto than those around her.

There is two panel of her with her teammates, one of them just standing around when Pein first attacks Konoha, and then another of them talking with one another; There are zero panels of her fighting, and you cannot even infer that she is fighting. The team obviously split up, since Kiba is shown fighting with his mom later on, as is Shino with his father and clan members (chapter 427). Hinata was only shown after the attack on Konoha, and she was with Ko, doing nothing but watching Naruto fight Pein. The fact that she was with a bodyguard, instead of fighting with her team or clan says loads of her lacking offensive abilities.

Naruto on the other hand was not okay. The bottom line is Naruto is thankful that Hinata stepped in and fought. Naruto and the leaf and the shinobi ninja world are thankful for Hinata's action. LINK PLEASE! In every thread I have seen Sakura has better stats (because she has more screen time) but Hinata has better taijutsu. Sakura has mostly strenght and not taijutsu. She barely/rarely hits her foe and when she does it is not conceutive so there is no style. Plus she is rash and ususally yells when she is about to hit

I dropped Naruto a long time ago and haven't even gone to a video over the series in...4 to 5 months, yet NH fans can't tell that when I post something on the same page saying I don't give a damn anymore, they continue to send me hate mail. All I did was say I like sakura. Apparently it's a crime to like Sakura in the NH world.

There's a guy called VJ87G who's a rabid NH fan. He bashed some dude's brother and told him he hoped all his friends in the United States military would die because he supported U.S. There were several other of his "followers" who did the same as well. He's hated by both sides, but that's going too far. Why would you wish death on people over an anime? Dude seriously needs a life.

Anyway, I haven't said anything good about Hinata because I have never liked her. Her fanbase completely destroyed her for me because of what I just told you. She's way too overrated for nothing. She can't do what Neji cand do, she can't handle herself on the battlefield, whereas Sakura has proven she could, and she's just one of those characters I've never seen a use for. I even tried to make a character similar to hinata for my own books and I ended up discarding her. I hated her character and she didn't fit into the story at all.

Okay, let's use this for an example.

this shows that she does not have faith in his abilites. Sakura almost got her team to fail because of her. Sakura did not want to take the exams anyway. Yes she had good intentions but it was not her place to decide naruto's fate. She knew of his abilities yet still was surpriesed in his actions. Sakura almost ended it for naruto. This is not a plus of NS.

This is not true and you know it. Sakura had faith in naruto, she even yelled at Sasuke for being a coward against orochimaru. She was willing to fail the test for Naruto because the questions were too hard for him, and if they failed they would never become a ninja. They could have come back the next year and re-taken the test. I just looked this up in the manga.

This is what ticks me off with fans. Crap like this. This is another thing:

You are missing so much info! You forgot to mention how Sakura saved Naruto in the forest or how she taught him chakra control. You do not know a lot about NS do you?

When was this even brought up? She did plenty more than just this. Who fed him Ramen when his arm was broken? (Things like this are also considered as romantic in Japan) Who healed his wounds after he turned 4 tail? She cried for him when she found out what the Akatsukie were planning to do with him, and the list goes on and on. I know plenty about NS.

And compare first season Sakura to shippuden. Sakura in part one was practically useless. Just there because Kishimoto needed a lead female. Then compare her to Shippuden when she takes down Sasorie. Whether or not you want to admit it, Sakura is far more impressive than a lot of people give her credit for. Would Hinata have been able to take down sasorie? Probably not.

and none of that invovles me. idc about other sites i just make sure this site is mostly NH and if not i will respectfully debate them to the ground so that i have the final say. I use correct info and prove my point... at least i try unless someone else plays dirty. i heard about that incednet but i have no proof of it and this does not have to do with the story

this was AFTER the interrogation part of the exams so this does not help your point. Again Sakura was surprised by naruto's strneght and abilities which made her realize that saksue was slacking and that he was the only way of winning. Sakura did not believe Naruto was that strong and was counting on Saskue for most of the fight

she was the only person who could do it. This was not romantic since Naruto was K.O. Plus Sakura could not even fully heal him. When Saskue was in CS1 Sakura was able to calm him down but when Naruto was in 4tails Sakura got hit!

Part 1; Naruto was obbssed with Sakura. He constantly tried to impress and hit on her. When he was fighting he fought for Sakura. Sakura always tried to impress and hit on Saskue. She hated on Naruto and caused him physcial/emotional pain. Hinata loved Naruto wihtout a doubt

Part 2- Naruto is not as obbssed with sakura. He is more focused on saving Saskue and becoming Hokage and fighting Akaskui. He is no longer fighting for Sakura. He still cares for her but he is not obbsses. Sakura's feelings to grow for Naruto. Yet sakura's feelings for Saskue increase/stay the same. She still thinks of him and sometimes her feelings decrease but are increased shortly after. She still wants him and thinks of him even during war. She wanted to kill him to save him from the darkness. She went against her comardes to try and help him. Hianta's feelings increase and she is able to have a convo with Naruto. Naruto does not think Hianta is weird and respects her

Agree with both of these. Even though I do really enjoy manga pairings, I realize that this manga is action-focused (shōnen), rather than romance-focused (shōjo), and the kind of romance that many shippers want to see would be out of place in this kind of story.

I'm not saying romance isn't important and doesn't play a role--it is and it does, as you pointed out with Obito's love for Rin--it's just that that's not meant to be the primary focus of this manga. The manga is meant to be more about the action, and the friendship and character growth that results from it, than about romance.
