i read a study one year ago that states that : hard work improve IQ and mental performance, better to admire kids ( when they make an achievement ) for their hard work not for being smart. i can add that every one is gifted in his own way. but HARD seems a little over persistence should not be painful

Naruto is a member of the famous Senju clan so is his hard work show that he is strong or his clan's traits.

I am not sure Neji, Naruto, Saskue (e.t.c) have good genes but Lee is very hard-working and he is on their level by using the gates. Also Hinata was not always so strong until she worked hard.

I guess Overall I say ... HARD WORKERS RULE.

Hard Work can always become better then Natural Talent so I have to say Hard Work

Gifted, easily. I'm assuming that gufted means "genius," since gifted isn't really used in the manga as a descriptor.

And Naruto's power comes more from a gift in the 9 tails, than his hard work. His gift of chakra level allowed him to use shadow clones and use rashenshurikan. His gift in his mother being sealed into him allowed him to capture and access Kurama's chakra. Naruto would have died otherwise.

Uchiha eyes, gekki genkei, orochimaru, 1st-4th hokage., akatsuki.

Sasuke vs Lee. At any point. Kakashi vs Gai?

I used to believe hard work paid off, at least in the Naruto series, until it's revealed that he's the son of the 4th Hokage AND an Uzumaki which gives him a Wolverine healing factor. Not to mention he's got unholy amounts of chakra thanks to the Nine Tails.

Gifted, all the way.

Are there any akatsuki that are powerful mainly because of hardwork, rather than gifted? Doesn't seem like it.

Hard workers. When you're gifted you have to realize how stupid everyone else is. Hard workers can still live in ignorant bliss.
