Where would the Northerners evacuate to? It's one thing when you're dealing with a city like New Orleans where the people just refuse to move despite knowing their city is in a death trap and is going to be wiped out every 20 years or so before eventually sinking into the ocean because of erosion. The U.S. could handle the dispersion of one decent sized city like that along with a few suburbs. The entire Eastern seaboard evacuating? The logistics of that would be ridiculous. Sandy definitely isn't worth that kind of trouble.

This. You can't exactly force over 55 million people to just pack up their things and evacuate from their homes to somewhere likely hundreds of miles away out of the blue, especially at this ludicrously large a scale.

And Flash, you're missing quite an awful lot of places from your list. After all, NYC isn't the only densely populated area. Cities like Boston and Philadelphia also come to mind.

The even bigger problem is that large population centers ARE islands. Even less densely populated areas like Long Island have a million people or so on them. Nowhere to evacuate them to besides not right on the coast, but the island is only ten miles wide while 150 miles long.

he's saying it's nearly impossible to move that much humanity to evacuation centers when one of the made modes of moving that many people is currently underwater...and the region is kinda not exactly large enough

not to mention it's a logistical nightmare and impossible to do when a Hurricane is only twenty or so hours away

the reason why the south handles things so well is because everything from our infrastructure to our culture is kinda set up to rebound as quickly as possible from these storms..much of the North East isn't at all

Whereas the South can't handle one inch of snow and the North can move foot after foot of it with no problem.

My favorite part of the series was when they damaged one of our ships, and that somehow wiped out half our navy.

Our tires aren't made to handle snow. In the north, tires are made specifically for handling that kind of thing. Here, we skid if theres an inch of snow because our tires don't have the traction needed or something.

All purpose tires handle snow just fine.
Now if you have high performance tires on your rear wheel drive sports car, I can't help you, YOU RICH SNOB
