Deidara was a great ninja, but way too hot-headed. He let his emotions get in the way. And not in the way that Naruto does that drives him beyond his limits. yea you're right. That's his main flaw and weak point. But he at least has one of the most destructive jutsus and a big potential. It's just Kishimoron doesn't want to show us his full potential as a SHINOBI (not just a bomber, look at Kisame's story for example) plus no story for him. (but that's a different topic).

Genjutsu does work on Pain, but Jarayia wasn't very good ad genjutsu and the toads only knew an audio genjutsu. Tsukuyomi is a top class jutsu. But even if it failed, Kotoamatsukami would have done the trick.

Even if Nagato was able to absorb Amaterasu (don't think he can though, as he used Almighty Push to get the flames off), it still would create the diversion needed to used Susanoo and the Totsuka blade.

Itachi's Susanoo has a second of the sacred treasures. The Yata Mirror which is said to reflect any attack. Susanoo is a powerhouse defense all on it's own. As Sasuke, an MS Rookie, proved at the Five Kage Summit. So, Itachi's Susanoo plus the Yata Mirror should be able to withstand Chibaku Tensei. Keyword "should". Don't know for sure, so I'll give you then benefit of the doubt on this one.

We come to the same argument again Chibaku Tensei takes care of susanoo and the Totsuka blade and yata Mirror. IF it could defend agains tit edo Itachi would have used it.

Hidan would eventually win because he can't be killed. Zetsu is pretty fragile.

Zetsu isn't his army. That's what you're missing. The rest of the Zetsu clones are just artificial humans, not Zetsu himself. Zetsu is the black and white artificial human. One clone vs. an Akatsuki that tanked Thousand Arm Murder and Asuma's gun powder explosion, plus so much more.

The Zetsu would split up so they would be harder to hit than attack on their own

Underground roots techinique by Black Zetsu would bind Hidan or at least take away his sword... does zetsu even have blood?

Whit Zetsu makes Hidan easier to be binded with the spore techinque

You're forgetting that no matter HOW many times Hidan gets attacked, he is unkillable
