Should Sex-Selected Abortion Be Allowed?

I don't see how this is different from any other abortion.

Assuming either law would be enforcable, I'm against making laws based on assumptions. For every 100 couples who want to know the gender, it could quite possibly be a small percentage who abort for unethical reasons. The government in many many cases could be barring loving parents from knowing their child's gender. I don't see why the government should have that type of power without great necessity.

I if had to pay for daughter's wedding she's just gonna have to accept what i give her. And they have arranged marriages in some places. You aren't going to marry off 2 guys if they aren't gay

More importantly boys are stronger and can help work and take care fo the parents in old age.
Especially important in China where you can only have one kid.

and they will all starve because usually women are expected to do all the housework

China and it's one child law is to control the population growth...which isn't working because all the Chinese people are sending their children to my school (I'm serious. all the foreign exchange students are from China)

The money problems are differentiated by the circumstances. There are statistics for how much a couple has to make by the government's standards, to provide everything a child needs. While they're not a requirement or absolutes, these statistics are an approximate of child care. Thus if the parents don't feel they can provide for their children and make their lives difficult growing up, they can in some people's eyes, ethically abort the pregnancy.

Whereas the article in the op is also based on statistical returns a girl and a boy bring to a family,but the difference is the former doesn't devalue the baby's life. Maybe in a different time and place, that couple would have bee loving parents. Whereas the latter, they're coldly calculating the pros and cons of having a woman who may end up marrying into another family and being a cost to their overall retirement.
