Well if you all would have paid me any mind before I asked if you all remembered how Kakashi was trying to show Naruto, Sasuke and Sakura how difficult being a ninja could be and he put the kunai to Sasuke's throat and said "Sakura kill Naruto now or Sasuke dies,"

Maybe something happened where Kakashi had no choice, but to kill Rin or something really horrible was going to happen.

I mean for all the wisdom Kakashi has given, it's always been from an experience in his life, he had to have gone through something like that before for him to bring it up, at least that's what I think.

Say they were in a five man squad and they captured the other three ninja. The Mist wants to weaken the leaf by getting rid of the medical ninja, but Kakashi is too strong for them to take out, so instead they use their hostages (the other squad members) and say "Kill the medical ninja or your captured comrades die"

They promise to let the rest go, but only if he kills Rin. So then kakashi has to choose between killing one person or letting three others die. It's like that saying "kill a few to save the many" kind of thing.

Before they left, Zetsu said that they were surrounded by mist ninja and when they got there, there was bunch of smoke around them, for all we know they could have poof teleported away right before Obito got there.

First off before they left Zetsu himself said that Stupid Kakashi and Rin you're always talking about are surrounded by a bunch of Mist ninja so he wouldn't have been there the entire time since he had to leave to tell him that, plus they could have been captured before Zetsu even found out about Kakashi and Rin.

If they had other team members they might not have been in the same area, the people who I said telelported away would be the mist ninja and for all we know the mist ninja could have told Kakashi one thing, but then did another just like when Yahiko gave his life to try and save his friends, but then Hanzo and Danzo went back on their word and killed them.

So they might have captured some of their comrades, but were holing then in another place, then demanded that Kakashi kill Rin or they'd die, but once Kakashi killed Rin they did not keep up their end of the Bargain.

That's if there were other people to begin with, the mist ninja might have said they had their comrades, but in truth had already killed them and said that they had them and would let them go if he killed Rin when in truth there were no comrades to be saved since they had already killed them.
