Unfinished Combos

Most people combo without really paying attention to the animations, but I've always wondered what the characters do if you stop mid attack. For example, I discovered that if you stop Haku's one combo where he freezes the person and then dashes at them right before he dashes, the opponent will stay frozen for a second and then the ice will shatter on its own, dealing equivalent damage to the dash ending to the combo. Along with that, I've also noticed bits of Zabuza's combos are parts of his Ultimate Ninja Level 1 Ultimate Techniques. Has anyone else noticed something cool or different when a characters combos don't finish through?
