Forum Transition Discussion

Wow, its been like 15 years, or something...never considered if and when Naruto would end. I guess it makes sense though. When the story ends, so does the thread, largely, pending unanswered questions and loose ends. But in all honesty, I joined because I'm an avid Naruto lover. Bleach is entertaining, but definitely not my thing, same with One Piece. I would still stay aboard to give it the old college try, but I like things kinda the way they are. lol, I haven't even gotten a chance to get used to the current layout yet. And I dont mind diving neck deep into a forum, but I definitely dont wanna have to find another Naruto forum and get neck deep into 2. I still have a life and kids, lol. I like the battlegrounds and the Video game sections (as I have them ALL [PS2, PS3 and PSP] and get strung out on them regularly) and havent even gotten to get into em yet. This makes me a little sad, but it seems everyone is rooting for this. Why couldnt the current forum format be copied twice, edited slightly and be applied to both Bleach and One Piece (a romantic and idealistic concept, no doubt)? I know theres a lot to discuss about both of those animes, as well as merchandise, video games, quests, etc, etc. This forum is cool cause of the variety and depth within Naruto it has developed. With the proposed change, Naruto gets three sections, which kills many of the cool threads here, and does not allow for the depth and variety needed for something as deep and epic as Bleach and One Piece. You could apply almost every existing category on this forum to a category for each of those anime and have deep, rich set of pages that will attract exclusive and specialized fan bases as opposed to casual, generalized users. How would someone that does not partake in those animes be able to keep up with rank and rep if they dont have their feet and fingers in all the doors?

Those are just my questions and observations. I do understand that Naruto is ending soon and that Viz has to do something. It doesn't make it any less sad though.

I was thinking, this site will go through lots of changes after manga end. In 5 years new manga will be here, and old manga won't. My random thoughts.

And Yes, I agree with BK. big userbase=big staff. but those things usually work themselves out. you see who in the community is serious and dedicated and they typically get offered the necessary positions. certain aspects of society (whether it be physical or digital) work and balance themselves out with good leaders to adjudicate authority ^.^ This one has done quite well it appears and i believe that any revisions made would not reflect on the quality of the current mods and admins. it would just be about finding a handful or so more that are of the same grade as the current ones. They have done a great job choosing and adjudicating so far, so that should totally be left up to them ^.^ we, on the ground level need not worry about the mods and admins. All they need is format suggestions from us.

Don't take this as truth, but this is what we plan to do, but it isn't set in stone yuet.

The Naruto section would remain open for a while, then sections will be made reply only (aka, no new threads, reply only). Once the anime has caught up to the manga and has finished and there aren't any more movies, the whole section will be made read only and archived. Some sections may stay open, but the Manga and Anime will likely become read only.

Again, this is a plan but not set in stone at this time.

This is really cool that this is happen, I just have one question. Would our accounts be effected in anyway during the forum transition or will the forum just basically get a new layout and design and what not with our accounts not effected at all?

ANYWAY tho if this happens we need more varieties of avatars from different VIZ Animes/Mangas, new ranking system, maybe tweak the post count. Other then that I don't know what else to add, if I think of anything else I'll post in this thread.

Your accounts will not be affected in any way. We are simply changing the name of the forums, rearranging the forum layout and then, the last thing will be to change the domain name (instead of naruto.viz.com/forum, you'd probably reach the forum at forums.viz.com or something like that). =]

Nothing. It'll be staying on the forums, but whether it'd be a whole category or just a subforum with contests being subforums of Contests is unknown at this point.

I'm mostly concerned about the ranks, and avatars and what not. I feel that those need to be addressed and ready to go before a transition takes place.

But, I think it has already been somewhat addressed in this thread, so I'll just sit back and wait.

I'm definitely looking forward to the change. As others have already stated though we definitely need new avatars and ranks that cover more of viz's other manga/anime.
