It is not advised to give Gengar any dark type attacks. There is nothing Dark attacks are strong against that ghost attacks are not also strong against and Gengar gets 25% STAB (Same Type Attack Bonus) from ghost moves, being a ghost itself.

Anyway, in the games it could go either way. There's a chance for either to one-shot (more slightly in Mewtwo's favor since Gengar's defenses suck).

In the anime/movies Mewtwo tittystomps effortlessly. Its powers are planetary scale if memory serves.

Mewtwo destroys it in the anime, manga, and video game. Also, STAB is 50% not 25% and Mewtwo doesn't have planetary level attacks. See post 25 in the mew vs. narutoverse thread in the multiverse section

I agree. As strong as Mewtwo might be, Lugia has better feats in the anime. His only chance might be his telepathic abilities, but Lugia has good psychic showings of its own so Mewtwo would have a hard time beating Lugia that way. Meanwhile, I believe Lugia has better showings in destructive capacity and durability. The game really would depend on a lot of things and could go either way. I'll also add that Pokemon Adventures Mewtwo beats Lugia.

..........Gengar is Ghost/Poison, Mewtwo is Psychic, while Ghost type is strong against Psychic types, Psychic types are strong Vs. Poison types, add to that Mewtwo is faster than Gengar, and Gengar having weak Sp. Defense, Mewtwo having crazy Sp. Attack = Mewtwo RAPES PWNS
