izumi stomps korra in close range and is atleast equal in long/mid-range. That is besides the fact izumi earth walls anything korra throws at her.

As for the avatar state i too belief she can use it but its better to wait and have more evidence (as soon as it gets undeniable confirmation im gonna swoop in on all old threads and go 'i told so you so' ) but as for now she gets stomped.

yer kinda missing the point of why we wanna wait and see

it's not about a lack of belief in her ability it's a lack of information..on the why and how.

No one is denying that she will one day control the avatar state. Again, it is just a preview so it's not enough. Plus there's a difference between controlling something and mastering it. When book two comes out and all is explained, the by all means use the avatar state to her advantage. So going "i told you so' would just be a waste of your time.

My belief is that she can use it at this very moment as they left her in the final episode. Not 'one day' not book 2 but book 1 . But there is no truely solid evindence just obvious hints.

Regarding the avatar state i do not see much difference between controlling and mastering it regardless of that as soon as she enters izumi would be screwed her loosing control in it would only make matters worse for izumi.

The i told you so is for the people who said she cant enter/exit willingly as she is now. :P

I think there is a difference..as I recall Aang was outright possessed by the more angsty regret filled Avatars

I'm still not sure what you mean by "possessed by angsty, regret-filled Avatars", but here's how it played out in Sozin's Comet.

Ozai blasted Aang out of his earth shell, and Aang slammed into a pillar, with a bump sticking right into the wound from Azula's lightning. This somehow undid the damage that Azula's lightning caused, and triggered the Avatar State. This was probably little different than any other time Aang had entered the Avatar State. He kicked the crap out of Ozai, and before the Avatar State made Aang kill Ozai, Aang brought it under control and ended the Avatar State calmly. Then, after Aang removed Ozai's firebending, Aang deliberately activated the Avatar State to pull in the ocean and put out the fires the airship fleet had created.

There really shouldn't be a difference between controlling the Avatar State and mastering it. Once you activate the AS, the point is that you are granted the skills of past Avatars. There's nothing left to master once you activate it in a controlled fashion.
