so woke up today convulsing with all my old wounds basically aching like a mother..taking a sick day, maybe I'll catch expendables later if I can move without wanting prescription pain meds..if not I'll probably just languish on the forums or sleep

Why does it seem most mangas hold the same line of:
1) Character has mysterious power, either doesn't know about it or is inexperienced 2) Larger, random, seemingly impossible event occurs at his/her specific location 3) New purpose (and powers) are discovered, with a generalized evil in the way 4) Beings far more powerful either align themselves with the hero or choose to save themselves until post-powerup. 5) The hero engages in some kind of training to increase their own power and tactics just enough to surpass the obsticle. 6) Repeat from 3-5 for the rest of the story
