Tag members in threads/posts

No, I don't mean make the forums into Twitter. I mean that sometimes I want to make a thread about someone or post a reply directed at a certain member but you can't always be sure if they'll ever see it. I think it would be beneficial to be able to tag a member in a thread or post so that they get a notification that they were mentioned in something.

I mean, like if I made a thread about you when you weren't online. Eventually, people would post in other threads enough to push my thread back a page, and you'd never see it.

Yeah, but what is the point abut making a thread about someone when you can Pm them or leave a message to them. I don't like the idea cause it seems pointless, not many people ever make threads about another member.

True, but what's the point of visitor messages if you can just PM? Makes this place a bit more interesting. I like this idea. After I left the forum a little while ago I was mentioned in things that I never saw until I searched my username out of curiosity. And personally I'd like to know if my name is ever being mentioned.

This is actually something I was gonna bring up to see if it can happen.

Basically, like Facebook, you can tag a person's username in your post, and they'll be notified in their UCP and it will link them to the post.

Much like when entering the user's name in the recipient box when sending a PM, a list of names pop up with the character(s) you've placed in the box, sort of like a tag when clicking the user's name and it being placed in the box.

I was hoping something like that can be implemented when posting. Maybe some sort of icon on the toolbar can be clicked on to use to enter a username and tag it to the post.

xxxxxxxx xxxx xxxxx xxxxxx (click icon to tag a user) <username placed here> xxxxx xxxxxxx xxxxx.

That would be something useful on here.

Yes because I'll log off and while I'm gone the threads I posted in had people reply to what I said, but I may never know unless I go and check.
