That did the trick, Sagemaster. It crashed while trying to patch...
Japanese Error Message. WinHTTP Error:12002 [No.103]

[Edit: Hm. Tried reinstalling again...still having the same issue. The game just stops after the nProtectwhatever starts running. That error seems to be caused whenever I try to use the Eng. patch. I just can't get this game to work...what a bummer...]

Are you putting the patch in right? Does it run without it?

Without the patch, it looks like it should run. But nothing happens...it starts to load and then...nothing. /shrug I guess it's not meant to be? I'll have to wait until the US release. T_T

So.... You download the game and it goes just fine. When you open the game, it should open a box. Press that big button. After that updates, let the game open. Have you done that?

Yup. it happens exactly as you described. I open the launcher, hit (what I think is) the start button on top and then the game starts to launch (a little phantasy start online graphics pops up in the middle of my screen for a short while) and then, nothing. After the PSO2 graphic disappears, another (nProtect) thing starts to load, but then it just disappears and crashes without a single error or message.

Usually that means the game is just popping up and you have to wait a minute. However, it could be a problem if your settings for it are too high or your graphics card just isn't up to par for the game.

Hmm...I'll see if I can try to turn down my settings...I know how to get to them, I just don't know what settings I'm tampering with lol.

Another Update: Well, after messing with the options (The slider & resolutions) it now boots up to a full black screen before it stops responding! Slowly making progress!

If the NA release isn't up to snuff, I'll just continue to play on the JP servers. Stuffing an English patch in there makes it pretty okay. You just can't understand the story.
