Changing Thread Name

So, when I go into Thread Tools to attempt to change the thread name there's not an option. Do I need to copy the thread to change the name or what?

If it's your own thread that you started you can change the name of it but you have to move it from the section to another then back to change it, when you move it, you have the option to change the name on the move.

Moderators though, can just change it, normal users have to do more steps to change the name of the threads we've started.

While that method is popular, you can also just double click next to the name of your thread and you will be able to change the title of your thread. This is only available within 7 days of creating the thread. Then you need to use the method TRS mentioned.

Normal members can't change the name of their thread. You can contact either one of the moderators of the forum where your thread is located or contact any Super Mod or Admin via PM to have your thread changed. =]

I was never able to change the name of my thread before I became a moderator, without double clicking the thread name on the thread list (which I never needed to do anyway). One of the admins can confirm here anyway (I'm not a fan of having people move their threads repeatedly to have their thread name changed as that just causes issues)

Can, have and done so myself, with at least two of my threads, I have started and I'm in the normal user catagory. Though the longer way, by changing sections, we can also have the option of leaving the redirect at the same time, whilst moving the thread.

You must've gone through that before I had it allowed for users to change their thread titles within the x day period.

It is dependent on forum actually. Some forums just doesn't allow users to edit anything.
