Since The Chunnin Exams Naruto said hard-work pays off
yet
Neji says you are born gifted or you are a loser

Naruto is a member of the famous Senju clan so is his hard work show that he is strong or his clan's traits.

I am not sure Neji, Naruto, Saskue (e.t.c) have good genes but Lee is very hard-working and he is on their level by using the gates. Also Hinata was not always so strong until she worked hard.

I guess Overall I say ... HARD WORKERS RULE.

Who do you think is right hard work or good genes??

In the Naruto Story it's obvious that gifted people are better e.g. the Uchiha clan.

In real life I think that if you work hard enough you can become as good as the "gifted" people. Starting out with good genes is nice, too, but you get the point.

Hard work is obviously the winner. Look how strong Naruto's gotten, and it's all because of hard work. When he was in the academy, he was terrible, but now he's one of the strongest shinobi alive.

Meh. I was gona say the Gifted, but changed my mind to the hard workers. It's more rewarding.

I think unfortunately in Naruto generally, gifted will find that their inborn talent is no longer sufficient to be successful. Because everything comes so easily to them, many never learn the skills-
hard work, persistence, patience, perseverance, discipline--that will enable them to
become truly successful as a ninja. But, like someone said above. Starting out with good genes is nice, as well. Hard-workers can catch up, but gifted just have an early start.

None of them is right. Persons with good genes but no hard work will always stay mediocre.
Simply Hardworkers may become a little above avage.

But you can only reach the top if have have both the genes/talent and the will to work hard.

Even if you are gifted, I still feel that you will need to put in hard work to improve yourself.
Also people who are purely hard working and are a high quality of ninja, I feel they deserve more respect

I would love to say hard worker rule, but unfortunately there is such thing as sasuke that exist, Sasuke is Kisimoto's favorite character there fore he doesn't have to lift a finger to become powerful which is total bull crap.

Of course we hope everybody has a fair chance on becoming the best by working hard, but you need both. Naruto would've died in so many battles if he wouldn't have the nine tales (and he wouldn't have the nine tales without the Senju genes, and he wouldn't be Naruto).

In real life you also need both. With good genes in real life I mean healthy genes (no physical or mental disabilities). If you're born with one leg I'm sorry but you probably can't become the best soccer player. Sad but true.
