Katawa Shoujo Discussion(Mature Game)

For anyone that doesn't know what this is, it is basically a visual novel about the 18 year old boy named Hisao Nakai who is suffering of a heart condition. Before you go straight to google and download it, I must warn that it is very mature and if you cannot handle sexually explicit scenes well, then I do not recommend it(There is also a choice to turn off adult content).

Anyways, this thread can be used for the overall discussion for Katawa Shoujo. Discuss away.

I'm playing this right now. Not up to the point where you pick a route yet, I think. (this is my first VN) Not sure which one I would pick yet either.

well...I'm currently going through rin's route (i've been on it for months, frankly my computer is a piece of crap that won't run the damn thing for more than five minutes) and it's...pretty damn good so far.
I have to say, shizune's route is by far the one that I like least, there aren't really too many memorable parts, and shizune's dad, while he may look cool (seriously, he does) he's a complete ass
Lilly's is also really great, no complaints, just not too many parts I consider memorable
Hanako's was the first one I got, loved it, loved everything about it, it's my favorite so far (oh, if you play this and Lilly's route side by side, the events pretty much mirror each other, but they're just done better here)
Emi's is by far the funniest (seriously, her interaction with the nurse are some of the funniest dialogue i've read in...a few months, not gonna say they're the funniest ever but they are enjoyable)

i looked it up for the lulz... the fact that some of the girls are like... crippled to the max... kinda disturbs me..

Looks like i'm doing the Emi route. That's fine with me, she is probably my favorite of the 5 anyway.

Read the whole wiki pages and it really sounds interesting. I love games like this with options that branch out the storyline but the whole disability thing sounds creepy. I think I might try it out, haha.

And for someone who has played the game, why is Shiina/Misha there?

Misha is Shizune's translator, and there is one very important scene towards the end of shizune's act involving her, not really gonna spoil anything but the ending you get completely depends on the choice you make there

It's kinda sad that the whole cripple thing is scaring people away from this. The point of this VN is that it's supposed to be different. It wasn't made a big main-stream group, since no popular company would make something like this.

It's really well-made and well-written. The whole point of it is that people like the girls you encounter in the game, even though they have disabilities, they are still people too. I think the game does a wonderful job at getting that point across. Each of the 5 girls are really different, and a few of them remind me of people I know. All the reviews i've read for it agree that it really handles the disability thing really well. It's really not something to be creepied out by, it's what makes this game different.

The branching paths thing was really well done as well. I've actually thought back on what different paths I could of taken, and I messed up a couple times and get a couple of the girls mad at me. It's makes me really want to go back and play through it again, just to see what else could of happened.
