Storm Generations Online vs Storm 2's: Better or Worse?

Based on how you guys have played the game, do you think Online in Generations has improved a lot over Storm 2 and fixed KnJ with less Spam and more balance(at a certainty) or not?

I agree with Uchiha_Sora to an extend because at times it does kinda seem like CC2 didn't even test out certain characters such as MM, Tsuchikage etc.

But apart from that I honestly can say that it is an improvement from Storm 2 because I have had double the amount of legit fights than I had in my whole Storm 2 experience. The fact that I can land a combo without the fear of getting caught in a UJ or TUJ is great. With the sub bars we can actually use combo's where as in Storm 2 it was too dangerous to use a combo making them useless online.

^Yeah the sub bar helped. But they broke some other good mechanics... like iFrames on substitutions. Its like they decided to take away all iframes from substitutions and give them all to Masked Man lol

I like Generations. It made the game better because now people have to have more strategy. Instead of just people just pounding the trigger and hitting an ULT

Well after playing Generations for more than a month now, I can safely say it's online is 10x worse than Storm 2... in terms of community, characters and some mechanics.

I was a 9.999.999 BP Hero from Storm 2. I've had around 3400 ranked match online battles in Storm 2. Sure, in Storm 2 you had the sub ******* and the usual guard rabbit. However, substitution actually depended on how fast you could react and you could NOT sub everything and you had to put effort into it. Sasori, the most OP character from Storm 2 was hard to fight, but he was beatable. As long as you knew what you were doing, you'd beat Storm 2 Sasori.

Now, I've had around 400 ranked match fights in Generations. My impressions so far... first of all, 100 times more the ragequitters. People ragequit in Storm 2, but the Generations quitter is something... astonishing. FAIR OR NOT, they will ragequit. I have no idea why the community got spoiled so much, but this is just in-freaking-credible. Every 2nd person you fight will ragequit if you manage to get the upper hand. Then you have the overpowered characters, or characters who just have an advantage over others:

PTS Lee, PTS Kiba, PTS Gaara, PTS Kankuro, PTS Sasuke, PTS TenTen, TS Kiba, TS Lee, TS Naruto (Sage and Five Kage Summit), Masked Man, Tsuchikage, Danzo, TS Sasuke (Five Kage Summit), Deidara.

That is the list of characters you will face in Ranked... or anywhere else for that matter. If you face anyone else, then consider yourself lucky. So many characters, yet those are the characters that everyone picks. A lot of people played with Sasori in Storm 2, but at least there was a greater variety. You'd see Asuma a lot, Ino, Choji, Shino, Kakashi and most of the others in Storm 2.

Now, against a character such as the Tsuchikage who has a rock version of Shinra Tensei, only much more annoying, you can hardly get near him. What's the point of having limited subs and cancel system, when you can't get to the character in the first place? It is somewhat easier to spam in Generations and much more rewarding. A noob with MM can defeat a PTS Choji pro just by spamming his jutsu. It's not that hard.

And then, the substitution system is utterly broken. CC2 had the right idea about it, but they made it worse. By removing I-frames, when you sub Tsuchikage's jutsu, you fall right back into it and you can waste 3 subs from his jutsu. Some other characters such as TS Kiba's combos also get you to sub right back into them, thus rendering the substitution system completely broken and useless. People can just c. dash into you and make you sub it... when it isn't even an attack. Sub system is so broken and unbalanced, it's atrocious. Furthermore, even if you sub, if the other person cancels fast enough, they will get you again, trapping you for good.

Unlike Storm 2, there is absolutely no point in even attempting to use an Ultimate or a Team Ultimate off strike-back as long as your opponent has subs. Don't even bother, they will press L2 and sub it... unless the person you're fighting is an idiot.

On the whole, spammers are a lot more, and like I said before, it's more rewarding to spam now. Generations' online is terrible. The people are terrible. I've never seen so much rage-quitting in any other game...

I can only say that my experience of online has been totally different than Paraks although I have only played about 100 online matches. I have never faced and memorable PTS character other than Rock Lee. Never faced a Diedara, and hardly ever face Tsuchikage. For the most part I deal with Danzo, Sasuke and Masked Man as my memorable most hated opponents.

Taking both of our "most hated/most faught" characters into account this is already a TON more than UNS2 had to offer. In UNS2 I feel like I played against: Minato, Naruto, Guy and Deadara like 90% of the time.

All fighting games have this issue, the "best" characters will get picked the most. It's true all of the time and not worth complaining about to be real.

You complaint about how easy it is to sub ultimates/team ultimates is something I praise. I would put up a counter argument that landing ultimates off knockback was cheesy and way to easy to do. It would turn any mistake that knocked back like falling for a throw, or getting hit by a split-second explosive tag into an entire bar of damage. In the current system getting knocked back is a minor inconvenience and you actually need to "earn" your ultimates. A preferred method.

You are right about how subbing is broken sometimes because you sub into the same jutsu you just subbed away from. Its an oversight and can be fixed in a ton of ways but it really doens't come up that often.

Well, I find it surprising that you don't face a lot of Tsuchikages. You're on the 360 boards, so I don't know how things are over there. Where I play though, with the PS3 community, it is just as terrible as I described.

I face A LOT of Tsuchikages, and when facing Ohnoki, you can just forget about comboing him as long as he has enough chakra to pull that jutsu off and repel you. In my opinion, that gives him a huge and unfair advantage over any other character. A lot of players use him the "smart" way, which means not just mindlessly executing his jutsu in hopes of hitting the opponent with one of the rocks, but rather c.dashing into the opponent, getting point-blank and then executing his jutsu. If you haven't seen that, then you can try doing it to see how your opponent will either waste 1-2 subs subbing it, or just be knocked back, taking no less damage. My personal counter to it is attempting to turtle with puppets, although it isn't very successful.

About the ultimate off-knock-back, in Storm 2 if you mash the substitution button fast enough, you will not be ougi'd. However, whether or not you sub in Storm 2 just depends on how good you are at mashing. If you're bad, you get ougi'd. If you're good, you sub. In Generations, there is no border between a Hero and a noob who's had 10 battles in regards to this. The new player will sub everything with just one single press.

Sure, it makes it feel more rewarding when you DO manage to Ultimate your opponent, but that rarely happens. The sub window is just WAY too huge. You can sub the attack, and you can sub it after getting hit, which is ridiculous. There are countless exploits which can force the substitution system to break apart... for you. One other, in addition to Tsuchikage's jutsu and TS Kiba's combos is Five Kage Summit Naruto's ougi. Sometimes, when attempting to land it off strike-back, it will FORCE you to sub TWICE. I clearly see how I press the substitution button once, the character subs, then falls into the Rasengan explosion again and subs a second time. That's kind of broken, but at least it's only in certain conditions and only when Naruto attempts to ougi so it's managable. Point-blank Tsuchikage jutsu is still the most broken thing in the game. If not on par, then maybe even more broken than PTS TenTen's jutsu.

And yeah, there were a lot of Minatos and Guy's in Storm 2's online, but at least they weren't as broken as how Ohnoki, PTS TenTen, Awakened Danzo and MM are.

I am not arguing that Onoki is totally busted and clearly "the best" character.

But I don't agree that mashing sub "fast enough" is a measure of noob or skilled. I think there is much more skill in having a tactical battle to try to intentionally run your opponent out of subs. Then pressuring him into a knockback and ultimate while in the mean time he must manage his subs and try to avoid you before getting some sub power back. That is what separates a hero from a noob.

Two regular characters in this game, say Kakashi vs Itachi, will have a much better and more interesting fight in Generations than they would have in Storm 2.

I can block MM but i cant mount a real offense against good MM players. Diedara ill fight but if i see ten ten i say nope

Wow Parak, the community is bad but if you actually think onlione is worse than the Storm 2 community then you might as well just go back to that game (lol no offence).

But seriously the rage quitting was very bad in Storm 2 and I have hardly experienced rage quitting. Especially when you check the opponents disconnection frequency, just play people with 0, it is most likely that they won't quit. Plus Sasori was a bigger spammer than anyone in Storm Generations, at times if the person was very good, it was almost impossible to defeat them.

At least in Generations I know how to beat Tsuchikage, Masked man and pts Tenten spammers (of course I don't always beat them but I usually give them a run for there money). Plus the fact that you use Chiyo, pts Kankuro and Tsuchikage as your mains really contradicts what your saying because those are the worst spam characters in the game. I've seen the way you use puppets in this game and let me tell you, I feel sorry for all opponents who have to face you. Those puppets are so broken that you either break there guard instantly or force them to finish all there subs. You knock them to the ground and the puppet is there just waiting to bombard them as soon as they get up. That doesn't look fun to me plus forgive me if I'm wrong but weren't you a Sasori spammer in Storm 2, if so weren't you also apart of that dreadful community?

I just don't see how you can complain about this online looking at the broken characters you use.
