As someone had previously said, Chi Blocking requires actual jabs and strikes. It may or not be based off of Qigong. On the other hand, Energy Bending does not.

It was a metaphorical demonstration of the spiritual confrontational between Aang and Firelord Ozai clearly. This is why when the Lion Turtle had used Energy Bending on Aang, no flashy light sequences had occurred.

And had you ever considered the fact that Energy Bending doesn't require a particular stance? For one, it's not a martial art. Nor is it based off of a martial art.

Amon had it as back and top of head, IIRC. But whatever, you could be correct about it.

Also, it's book one, air, so what will the other books be?

We could both be wrong about this. It may not even be Energy Bending in the first place.

No clue, seeing as that Korra has already mastered Fire, Water, and Earth. She could however learn the specializations of those elements, such as Blood or Metal Bending. There is also Energy Bending out for keeps.

Not saying that it was a bad move based on his political position, but compare his not doing it to any other show and you'd see every villain over power the hero at first and they somehow get away or are let get away. In his position of power, it was obvious that he'd let her go.

But there's also the fact that he doesn't really have a good political position with this. His want to make all benders fearful and to take away bending one person at a time (if it indeed comes down to that), then taking her bending away on the spot would have been just as beneficial to his ultimate goal as letting her go could be to his political position.

It's cliche. It'd be much more unique if he had taken her powers from her. The main character, the avatar no less, would have to come up with something major and change something about the series in order to beat the villain in the end.

i don't agree though. taking away her bending would be a rallying cry to many people like he said. not only would benders take it up a notch and even the nations themselves rally, but even normal people who believe in the Avatar like a religion would be added against him. i mean it isn't that much time since Aang has been gone and he was loved.
there is still much more to be done to undermine the benders. as he said when she made her first radio announcement, he has to speed up his timetable. he wasn't ready yet for this situation. he is trying to rent space in her mind, put fear an doubt there.
there is one thing if i was her though, i would put to the front of my mind. he didn't come alone to face her. i would focus on that.

You don't know much about history, do you. Martyrs are dangerous. Pearl Harbor, Helen of Troy, Tupac. Not only are they warnings, but martyrs also act as justification. It's basically saying "if we don't act now, this is what will happen to us next." Amon crushing Korra now would only complicate his plans, seeing as that his rag-tag band of Equalists are little more than gangster Triad pests who have to rely on ambushes and sneak attacks to earn their victories. If you've noticed, they actually need rallies and posters to get new followers.

In other words, the Equalists are nowhere near powerful enough to enact a full-scale revolution of Republic City, much less the entire world. So far, they've been only cleaning the city of other scum, such as Lightning Zolt. So not much need for police action Removing Korra's Bending would only serve as a rallying point for the Republic City Councilmen and Police to finally take action against Amon, as well as the Four Nations and whatever Spirits he may have pissed off for destroying the balance of the world.

When have the Equalists ever fought on equal ground? When Amon gave Lightning Zolt a supposed 'fighting chance', did he ever consider the fact that he always had guards standing nearby? They used sneak attacks, tear gas, etc etc. The Equalists, at the moment, are little more than a butthurt Triad gang with a few Chi Blocking lessons and too many toys in their hands.

Okay now I am also suspecting that Amon could be the guy who attacked Republic City and was defeated by Aang. I mean why else would those flashback suddenly pop up?

Also I'm liking the new Mako romance with the Car Inventor Guy's Daughter. Definitely going to be some Love Triangle Drama. Maybe even a Square if Mako's little bro gets involved.

Also somewhat suspicious that Car Inventor Guy might be an equalist.

I didn't say it was a horrible decision. It's cliche. It's overused. It always happens. I'm not fighting that it was a horrible thing to do for what he's trying to accomplish, but a story is a story.

im inclined to agree with the earlier post, that Amon is full of bs and couldnt permanently take her bending away, its all just manipulation n fear tactics. he ambushed her with a gang of chi blockers, not because he couldnt take her alone (u saw him take out lightning zolt easily one on one, whether guards were nearby or not), but to make her feel powerless like she does at the end. if he went alone, beats her, takes her power temporarily, then what? kill her? can't do that since u all are right the martyrdom would hurt his cause. still i think the bending stealing is just a smoke show.

I have to say, Bolin earned some points, Mako lost some, but I'm not into the fast paced romance that this Avatar has. It's really quick and not so built up to.
