A group on facebook has emerged that is telling consumers of Starbucks that they should not purchase Starbucks any longer because they support homosexual marriage.

Their page description: "We are urging customers across the globe to 'Dump Starbucks' because it has taken a corporate-wide position that the definition of marriage between one man and one woman should be eliminated and that same-sex marriage should become equally 'normal'. As such, Starbucks has deeply offended at least half its US customers, and the vast majority of its international customers.."

On their facebook they often post rude things that insult the homosexual community and they are basically putting homosexuals down.

They also have a website and this is their description: "We are urging customers across the globe to 'Dump Starbucks' because it has taken a corporate-wide position that the definition of marriage between one man and one woman should be eliminated and that same-sex marriage should become equally 'normal'. As such, Starbucks has deeply offended at least half its US customers, and the vast majority of its international customers.

On January 24th, 2012, Starbucks issued a memorandum declaring that same-sex marriage 'is core to who we are and what we value as a company.

Starbucks also used its resources to participate in a legal case seeking to overturn a federal law declaring marriage as the union of one man and one woman.

In many areas of the world where Starbucks does business, the concept of 'gay marriage' is unheard of and deeply offensive to cultural, moral and religious values.

In taking these actions, Starbucks has declared a culture war on all people of faith (and millions of others) who believe that the institution of marriage as one man and one woman is worth preserving.

A portion of every cup of coffee purchased at a Starbucks anywhere in the world goes to fund this corporate assault on marriage.

We urge consumers across the globe to join the 'Dump Starbucks' campaign.

Please sign the petition to register your protest."

We come here with the intent of seeking religious freedom, and how everyone should be free and treated equally.

We imprison Japanese that live in America during WWII, we persecute gays (some people), some people have the skewed idea that all Muslims are terrorists, and are unaware of extremist groups, the Mormon faith is mocked often...The list goes on and on.

America and religion is one big mess. Although 'church is supposed to be separated from state'.. it's not. It seems like a lot of influence from Christianity is involved with the government. Especially on the subjects of gay marriage and abortion. That should not even be happening.

America has this problem with saying people are treated equally when in reality they are not. My best friend is a Muslim and the treatment she gets for her beliefs is horrible. If she wasn't Muslim no one would bother her like that.

People do really just need to stop...and think about others. This country irritates me sometimes...well..actually most of the time.

Yes, they're quite friendly.

It was bound to happen. The idea of having a Democratic Republic, which is what I think we are, because we're certainly NOT a real Democracy, is ridiculous. I think it's stupid how we elect one person as President, or into other offices, and they get to call the shots. It's obvious that power abuse is going to happen, regardless of the system of Checks and Balances. If the government officials are corrupt, problem solved. (Not saying they are or aren't, I'm just giving an example.)

Let's face it, you're not accepted as an American if you're not a white Christian male, like CoP said. I am not saying I'm not guilty of being a conformist in terms of religious speaking, but it's not right. (Be honest, is 'American' the first thing that comes to mind when you met your best friend, assuming that you were old enough to observe it? Again, not saying it's right, just giving an example.)

1.) Ok I am completely fine with homosexuality; however, there is this annoying semantic argument out there that marriage is defined as between a man and a woman, of course this ignores all the different cross cultural standards and the evolution of the concept of marriage and the responsibilities involved as well as how binding it is but nonetheless this argument does work from a linguistic perspective.

So my whole thing is that marriage shouldn't be defined by the government especially if it involves the influence of religious institutions like the Christian church. Everyone should be granted civil unions by the government that afford them the same rights. If the church wants to deliberate between who they do and don't recognize in the aftermath that's their choice.

2.) I'm glad Starbucks has a progressive opinion like that but I'm not surprised I mean anyone who's been to a few Starbucks has probably encountered a gay male employee or gay males who are frequent customers lol, even if they didn't support it personally it makes sense for them to say they do financially.

3.) Do I think these people are right? Of course now but this is America where you can be loud and wrong and be proud of it. And in all honesty I respect that because it encourages conversation and learning from people who aren't too close minded to change.

4.) "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it." First of all, if groups like the KKK, Neo-Nazis, and Black Panthers are allowed to spew hate speech the groups that at least have Biblical support for their discrimination definitely will seem tame in comparison. But even if this is one of the problems that comes with free speech, but I think forums like these show the positive far outshines the negative.
