Tsunade's strength is meaningless against Sand Coffin. The fact that she's the Fifth Hokage is also meaningless because she doesn't deserve the title.

Tsunade being bigger than Gaara means nothing whatsoever. She's also bigger than Onoki and Onoki surpasses her in literally every conceivable way.

Gaara wins without a doubt. While Tsunade is crazy strong physically, its not going to do her any good since she has to get in close to do anything and the closer you get to Gaara, the easier it is for him to catch and crush you. And since Tsunade has nowhere near even Chunin Exam Lee's speed, she's dead the minute the match starts.

Tsunade never got a chance to fight Pain cuz he ran away. Yeah she woulda lost but still. How the hell could she save Jiraiya from pain? Even if he agreed no to fight him he still woulda went out there and attacked him. Had the hokage been Hiruzen during pains attack, the entire village would have been dead -_-. He can't mass heal the entire village like she did.

she was interrupted before she could try, and moreover was busy protecting the village as per her job as premier medical ninja. her summon provided the intel needed for naruto to defeat him. furthermore before pain nuked the village she was prepared to fight.

She failed at saving her village from Pein too

she saved half of it through healing, and enabled hinata/katsuyu to survive which led to narutos victory.

She failed at staying sober

she is drunk a grand total of once in the whole time that shes been hokage.

She failed to save Jiraiya from Pein.

thats not her job. jiraiya chose to go find pain unaware of the risks and underestimated his opponent even after he heard about how pain killed hanzo. he also could have survived but chose to stay and figure out pains identity. this is completely not her fault and its not like she could stop him. jiraiya comes and goes as he likes.

Gaara seems like the obvious choice, but being the Tsunatard that I am, I'll naturally bring up a few points which I think need answered to:

• Gaara's sand works by speeding forwards, binding the targets limbs and crushing them. However, in the instance that Tsunade is incapable of dodging, and her arm, leg etc. is bound - whats stopping her from pulling herself free? Her strength is far greater than that of Gaaras sand after all. She could merely shunshin herself away , pulling her limb out using her great strength. Its not like the sand crushes you instantly, there's a short gap between when it binds the target, and when it crushes them. Tsunade herself is quite fast anyway, to the point that she could keep up with Ei briefly, and blitz a Madara clone, she can outrun the sand for a while before being caught.
  
  
• Tsunades attacks are limited to close-mid range, and only work on the ground. If Gaara flies high into the air, then he would be unable to be damaged by her usual style. However, if and when he does fly into the air, he's going to make sure he flies far away, as to to ensure he's at no risk to be challenged at close range by Tsunades sand busting strikes. This is all fine and well, but assuming Gaara gets too far from Tsunade, then the sand becomes easier to avoid for her - he'll be wasting chakra.
  
  
  
• Not only that, but in the time it takes for Gaara to fly into the air - couldn't Tsunade summon Katsuyu? Katsuyus acid is about 20-30 times the size of the average human, its incredibly difficult to avoid. Gaara's sand has also never showed any resistance to corrosive damage, so it may be a quick, easy way of rendering his shields null. Furthermore, as long as Tsunade is atop or near Katsuyu she doesn't face the threat of taking much damage. Katsuyu can tank Chou Shinra Tenseis and Chibaku Tenseis, why not sand attacks? The slug will throw herself over her master if she thinks she's at risk of being hurt.
  
  
  
• Even if Tsunade does get hit by a strike and damaged as a result, its nothing her medical ninjutsu can't solve. Especially when she can potentially have 100's of Katsuyu divisions cover her while she heals the damage, and given her skill in the medical area - that can't take long. If worst comes to worst, she always has Creation Rebirth, or better yet Byakugou.
  
  
  
• When Gaaras basic sand attacks fail him, he's likely to resort to larger ones, like the ones he utilised against Kimimaro or Deidara. Although those kind of attacks exhaust him rather quickly, and are only ever used when absolutely necessary. Though, regarding Katsuyu absorbs Tsunade, she can protect her from the sand damage. And I doubt the sand would do much to a slug capable of tanking attacks which inflict a lot more damage than Gaaras sand does.

Assuming what I've said in my above bullet points is correct, then Tsunade might actually win this - but would have extreme difficulty in doing so. If she cannot pull herself out of the sand attacks, then I believe Gaara stands an even greater chance. Either way, I reckon it'd be close.

That' because this is easy, no long posts are needed. One hour prep lets Tsunade enter Super mode. She is nearly as fast as A. Gaara's sand can't even keep up with Lee, and Gaara himself is monstrously slow.

They're hardly irrelevant. The world doesn't revolve around speed, and isn't the sole deciding factor of every fight - contrary to popular belief. Tsunade also isn't anywhere near the speed of Ei, keeping up with him briefly to attack in unison doesn't put her in the same speed bracket as him. In the same way that Tenten attacking in unison with Neji and Lee doesn't put her in the same speed bracket as them either.

Tsunade's quite fast, but she's not that fast, Madara even said so himself.

We know Gaara's sand can't do crap to Lee, meaning it won't move at all for Tsunade, meaning Gaara will have ot start the battle in his shell, but Tsuande woudl just pound through his shell. The End.

Gaara's sand literally turned a rain ninja into a pulp, and it would have done the same to Kimimaro had he not plated his body with steel-hard bone. It had the speed to block an attack from Ei, and multiple Amaterasu's. Gaara could even move his sand around at high speeds when his fathers gold dust had been infused into it, weighing it down significantly. Gaara's sand is definitely faster than Tsunade, even I'm not going to try and argue that.

Have you ever seen him been told no and her stand by it? I've yet to see it. Would've been better to send someone fodder. But no, she decided that she was going to ship out a couple newbies to go into the unknown. Regardless of whether or not she knew that the Sound 4 was going to be around, it's naive and stupid to send people who may not be prepared out for something if she doesn't know of the consequences of her actions. Okay, I'm going to take this one at a time.

Actually it is a fact that Tsunade sucks. Based on this post that you quoted, full of evidence, I have yet to see you disprove any of it. It's just you blabbing on and on about how Tsunade doesn't suck and how everyone makes mistakes. Nope. You're wrong. Tsunade sucks. It's a fact.

Which led to her slipping into a coma, basically putting the village at risk. More risk than with her being Hokage. Why? Because not only does the village have an idiot for a leader now, the idiot for a leader is knocked unconscious, and basically sat on her ass in a coma while everyone else fought. Sounds like a great, strong Kage to me. Let's not forget that she's the ONLY Kage that wasn't the strongest one in the village at the time, which is what being a Kage is supposed to mean. Now, unless you can prove that Tsunade > Naruto, Kakashi, etc, etc. Don't reply to this because I'm 99% sure you're going to say something that has no forbearance on how weak Tsunade is.

Now please tell me how her being able to mass heal a village is going to help her in any way when she is being completely enveloped in Sand. Unfortunately, her useless little Medical Ninjutsu won't do anything for her when she's being drowned in a Sand Tsunami the size of her tits. Can't find it? Can you? Maybe. But I can assure you that regardless of her healing abilities, she will be unable to save herself from asphyxiation.

I can assure you that she drinks more than that. It would be stupid to assume that just because we don't see it doesn't mean that it doesn't happen. We don't seen Tsunade gamble at all, maybe once, but she's notorious for gambling and losing. It wouldn't surprise me if she had drinking issues as well. Yeah, she seems like a great mother figure and a great leader.
