I feel like we should have character specific guides on this thread just like Smash Brother's Forums has. Each character has little tricks about them and I think we should document and discuss them. Here is my attempt to start this trend with my Shino Guide. I will introduce the term "Directional Influence" to this game, meaning holding a certain direction while doing something. This will apply to combos. DI up for example, is the up combo. DI down, is the down combo. Please feel free to comment and give your input and I will add anything I agree with to the guide, and eventually this will become the DEFINITIVE guide to Shino.
Shino Melee Combos: He only has a single melee combo. It doesn't matter you DI it you will always get the same thing. It doesn't do much damage, but it is very short and often times ends up being hard to sub. I would say you probably want to never use this because if you are ever attacking you should be using bugs. Melee Tilt: Shino's has a really interesting tilt. He makes a bug bomb, then does a front flip over your enemy and on landing, knocks them back into the bomb. It actually has pretty good range and knocks people up, setting you up for juggle tricks. I used this more often than his melee combo, and it's very unexpected. Most players have no idea what just happened. Shino's Projectiles: All of Shino's combos are projectile (bug) based. up, down, side and neutral DI all do a different combo. It's important to note that bugs fly very slow compared to other projectiles. This is a bonus because it allows them to have a very acute turn radius. They are the best at homing in on targets. DI Neutral: This is the best one. It's a 6 hit combo where the first 5 hits are single bug throws, and the 6th is a large bug bomb that knocks down. This is the combo I am always going to be doing when my opponent is in the air after a knocback. Also its clever to only fire the first 3 or 5 small bugs of the combo, and not finishing it with the considerably slower bug bomb. DI up, down, side: I feel these are too similar to write about so I kinda just use them interchangeably. They are all short bug combos that end in a large area of effect bug explosion. They are too short range to spam, but they are create to do after a sub. Chakra Bugs: 6 single bugs that fly slow and home on target. Not really that useful as it is identical to free-running bugs except it take your chakra. Still very useful to fire from the air. Air Bigs: This is part of my bread and butter with Shino. When shooting bugs from the air he will fire a single bug, followed by a knock-down bug bomb. Similar to his neutral combo except only 2 hits. It's very fast and unexpected and the knockdown triggers knockback. Once the opponent is on to you, jump and only shoot the single bug, but don't shoot the bug bomb. Land and throw. Free Running Bugs: Here it is, the bane of all players. This is THE bred and butter of Shino style. When you free run and throw bugs you throw 6 slow moving bugs that will hunt your enemy down. Because they move so slow, it's possible to have over 18 bugs on screen at once. It's insane. Shino free running bug spam will stop all other characters from free running because the bugs will chase them down. The only thing to remember is these do next to no damage, however they do very serious brain damage to your opponent making him very frustrated. First they will try to free run spam, but that will fail. They will try throwing fireballs at you, but that will fail. Finally they will start chakra dashing into you. You need to anticipate that dash. If you do you have many solutions. You can simply jump and do his air-bugs causing knock down. You can sub and throw, or just block and continue the spam. Jutsu: The slow floating bug bomb is an excellent jutsu. It keeps Shino safe. I like to cast the giant bug bomb after knocking the enemy down. So when they get up they are forced to block (it deals significant block damage and keeps them stunned for a while) setting you up for a throw. I also like to mix these in with free-run spam because if they get hit by your bugs, they will get comboed buy the ball. I also love to throw 2-3 of these quickly. Ultra Jutsu: This move has good range, but is slow to start. You can't do anything to crazy with this other than setting it up after knock back or knock up. I find myself rarely using it. Throw: Shino's throw is very quick and has short-medium range. It has more range than a melee throw, but less range then Kakazu or Tenten. Very useful move I use it often. Shino Strats: I usually start my matches trying NOT to free roam spam. Because people are expecting it. I like to give them something they don't expect and I try to score a knock down somehow without free roaming. Then once they are down I like to shoot 2-3 bug bombs and mix in air bugs, bug bombs, neutral DI bug combos and throws. if they get wise to this style of play then I begin free roam spamming. If they start holding block then I free roam into them, and then throw. Otherwise I keep doing it and bait the chakra dash. Punishing it into a knock down and try to land a team or ultra jutsu. Tricks for beating Shino: The best tip I can give you vs Shino and any other projectile character is to do the ninja dash. Not the chakra dash, but just the ninja dash. It will go through all the projectiles and get you inside of them. The rest is up to you.

Good work explaining shino. This isn't as perfect as the first but I'm gone tell you how I use my best charecter which is kiba.
Kiba main weapon is fang over fang. What I do is make Shure I'm not too close to my openent when comboing so they think I'm missing but I make Shure akamaru is close enough to catch them off guard. U should try to keep akamaru away from u. Kibas first attack which is just pressing circle sets up a fang over fang if u finish the combo. It puts the opponent between akamaru and kiba. Kiba flick attack is great for catching your openent off guard by u been far but akamaru just attack who can knock them in the air. It's also great for getting close to your opponent by throwing chakra shutiken after. Additional hit trick: if u have both your assist in attack u can use fang over fang so your support does a aditional hit. Then just use kivas bomb to send them back and do a fang over fang or a ougi. This olmost always works. Counter: when ever a person is rushing u with a jutsu use fang over fang which will nock u and the opponent back but letting akamaru still get them. Awakening: kiba fang over fang is very strong in awakening. Just keep using it and u will probly hit your opponent atleast once |

Thanks for checking out my guide, but if you want to post a Kiba guide then you should start a new thread. It doesn't make sense for your Kiba guide to be in a thread called "Guide to Shino."

Thanks. I'm starting to use Shino more and your tilt description helped me learn about tilts.
