Akira and Gundam and Macross/robotech and the G-1 transformer series are the ones who are responsible for that not Dragon Ball you can't give DBZ that credit..it's not accurate

DBZ made shounen fighting style manga/anime popular without it things like YYh and Bleach and Naruto would never be as popular as they are

but DBZ hardly had the impact your claiming it did..it resurrected the anime craze but it wasn't responsible for it

Under attack not shattered.It's in the process of being destroyed.

In Funimation Kai says the Galaxy is all gone.
In Japanese the galaxy "is being..."
It's being attacked.Nothing more.

If it was one-shotted Kai would have said "It's been..." not "is being".

Also the sequence was sped up cause in the flashback its been established that Broly has been attacking places since he was a child.
Sped up for the viewers so we don't have to wait 10 years to watch the galaxy break and to get to the Main Story.

Also King Kai pointed to the Galaxy so that Goku could IT to it.

Also we can see that the planets weren't even destroyed.Just the surface messed up.

He arrived in a dead world.Nothing more.

The fact Goku IT'd to a Planet proves:
The Galaxy is still standing.

All that happened was Broly destroying Civilizations and ruining planets not destroying them.

Broly is no Galaxy buster.Period.

If Broly destroyed the Galaxy then it's impossible for the 2 Planets to have been existing.
Same for Goku being able to IT to it especially to a Planet.
Without a Galaxy being present Goku would have ended up in the realm of nothingness yet he ended up on a Planet.

Well you can see it as King Kai manipulating Goku, but really he knew Goku didn't stand a chance against Frieza. Had he told him about Frieza, he would have ran off and killed himself trying to fight Frieza. Plot prevented that of course, but it still doesn't explain King Kai keeping the thing with Brolly secret. Goku was training in otherworld at the time, so it's not as if he had a life to lose. And with all that added filler to the anime, they even held a Tournament. All 4 Kais were there including the Grand Kai, and all the greatest warriors of the dead.. yet no one said "Hey Brolly's destroying this Galaxy, let's stop him."

Bah, I might rematch all the Brolly movies just to talk about this more because I don't even remember it all clearly.

They would have seen him destroying it all gradually. Frieza was infamous. The Supreme Kai doesn't seem to get involved unless the universe itself is at stake. And with Buu, you have an even bigger display of power. Him and Gotenks both ripped tears in the dimension to escape the rosat. Then there was that bit against Vegetto when he was "Ripping apart the fabric of time and spacelol".

Again, speaking strictly anime and movies here.

In My Opinion, I consider the Dragonball Universe to be probably the prime example of how power increases with character development. in the original Dragonball, Goku was just an above average child with a monkey tail. Most battles took place on the ground, and were usually the size of a small arena. by the end of DBZ, Goku had ascended from an an already ascended level of Super Sayian. Battle took place mainly in the sky, and even the slightest release of energy was enough to cause devastation to an entire city. The Earth could be - and soon was - destroyed, but by then at least 5 people had enough power to destroy it ten times over.

After this I saw the last Episode of Tengen Toppa, where THE WHOLE EFFING UNIVERSE became a battleground. I have no words to describe the awesome display of power as ALL THE GALAXIES WERE ABSORBED into the final clash.

But I think DBZ set this standard. The power scale in many anime franchises from beginning to end is such a dramatic increase, and DBZ seems to be the rocket-propelled spearhead to this trend.

the movies take place in an entirely separate universe but that aside it's been established that if you die as a spirit you cease to exist entirely- they had good cause to avoid sending goku in

anime wise..you could see ss3 Goku being a very major threat to guys like 90's era post crisis superman and thragg but ultimately loosing due to lack of speed feats

but that's extremely powerful much more than the manga

Dragonball verse will always be at the mercy of casual universe+ level characters and of course reality warpers.

DBZ sure has special abilities but they lack more of them.
They tend to be more lot more linear in fighting style particularly with the destructive effects.

But even then they are limited to universal level at best even at the anime and that is speculated chain reaction.
