Discuss, pronto!
I thought the TV version started off better, but there are plenty of differences. For one thing, Lori committed willing adultery instead of being under the impression that her husband was dead (and she's preggers to boot--HILARIOUS). Then there's Allen the shoe salesman. |

what no spoiler tags?
I'm psyched you've read the books, I'm on book 6 myself. A few things, as far as the brothers, they were never (and have never) been in the comics. Their characters were solely in the tv show. There are rumors that Kirkman might write them into the books later but who knows. Speaking of differences you notice one major different that they've done in the TV show vs the books? They never say the word zombie in the show. They have in the books, but never in the tv show. In the books walker is more like a specific term, where as in the show it's a really general one. And they've given Shane and actual character. His presence in the book is so short lived. Makes me curious to see where they going to go with him. I do admit that it's pretty sweet watching him spiral out of control.

Yeah, he went literally crazy in the books, like he was a 'noid Schizoid. I loved how he just randomly launched into apeshit vitriol at random points, and how he seemed like he was hearing things that weren't even said.
Don't think I've seen Walker yet, but there has been Roamer, which I guess is close enough not to matter. Loved the farm bit. Grimes seems... like a whiny bad-ass in the comics. Does that make any sense? LOL@ Dale and Andrea, and Donna biting the dust. And screw spoilers. >_> |

oh believe me, the grimes thing, dude i hear you. It gets worst. Eventually he gets really down trodden and to be honest he just pisses me off. Sooner or later you're going to meet Michonne, she seems to be a popular character. I don't really like her, but then again I think she's a psycho and super selfish. She kills things good though?
What do you think about the kids in the series though? You notice the age difference? They're like 7-8 in the books, but 11 in the tv show, I mean I understand why they'd change it but I guess I was surprised, and like trying to imagine Carl adapting to all of this, it's crazy, i'm rambling now :P

I'm on the last book, i'll try not spoiler too much for you but let me just say, Michy is bout to go through the ringer if i recall correctly, you're about to see how ruthless she can be to her core. Oh and then there's the whole carol thing... i think that's what initially put me off. Something like that just strikes me as purely selfish, especially when dealing with emotions vs monetary assets, it's one thing to be greedy but to covet something like that, to cause something like that... I dunno. I still have a sore spot about that. and of course the whole Ty Ty thing that happens later. Srsly.
who's your favorite character so far?

The old man prisoner, as he seems to be the most sensible. I'm sure that means he'll disappoint me or die in short order.

Yeah, I just sort of did this straight from the show discussion, and did not logically separate events. Doesn't seem like many others have given it a go anyway.

Dude Grimes was thinking ahead, actually I have an on again off again loathing of Officer Grimes. Like... right now where you are he's alright. Then he starts to slowly lose it. Like i think around book 5 it where he hits a low point (for me atleast)
What do you think about the character changes they've done from the comics vs the show? I know they keep saying Andria is the closest in the show to her actual character but ironically enough I think her character has the most change. Like not in actions but in actual core "this is who I am" type of way. Like... obviously there's her relationship with Dale which differs from the show, but not they also gave her this super annoying "weak chick becoming heroine" type thing on the show. That annoyed me. Andrea annoys me on the show to no end, but in the comic she's one of my favorites. Oh and another thing, comparing the comics vs the show, you notice the lack of kids in the show? Now obviously they've deviated from the original story when making the show and I think that's great, I like being surprised and having read the series it's sweet to see Kirkman try another angle, but I do miss the twins. My theory is that it has to do with actual children, with child labor laws and what not I think they're trying to keep their pint size cast mates to a min. but that's just my working theory... i also have one where kirkman just doesn't like kids

They never put the twins in the tv series, instead of the twins family they had the Morales' (The mexican dude with the jeep who said he wasn't going to the CDC?)
I still love both Glen's, comic and tv series, and if you ask me I think conceptually they kept his character the closest. You get to see the way Glen matures and adapts and even though the situations are different they're still giving Glen the same character development.

Yeah, Glen needs to hang around a little longer, or the show would get too depressing too quickly. Also, I need to start saying more. I see your bulk texts and my sparse replies and start feeling guilty for some reason. |

Just finished the first compendium. I find the survivors are a lot more likeable in the comics than in the show. The way Dale "dies" is hilarious. And Andrea isn't totally worthless

Which compendium? I've been reading the basic hardcover ones of which there are 7. I saw that there are a couple more formats holding far more issues inside.
I'm looking around for the third one now. Peeps need to restock faster. >_< |

There's only one compendium out at the moment. It contains issues #1 to #48.
