If we want to go by sales, then we should only be discussing Super Mario Bros. and Wii Sports, they dominate with 40 mil + or Mario Kart Wii with 11 mil or New Super Mario with 10 mil in US alone.

Yes but with the consoles it had major competition of MW3, BF3, SR3, Batman Arkham City, and various other games that released merely weeks before it.

Of course they do, they're family games, and most come with the console, Wii Sports and Mario Kart are very fun aswell, Wii Sports should actually be higher on the GVGE ever because it was basically the first game to have motion gaming involvement, however for core games with dungeons and such controller based gaming makes more sense and is loads more classic and manageable.

Also I don't think Skyrim should've been the Greatest Video Game ever, I just think Skyward Sword shouldn't be mentioned, especially when there are other much better Zelda games.

Wii Sports should have been, but no one voted for it. There are very few games like Zelda, Okami is one of the few similar. Only the 2D ones, SS is pretty clearly the best 3D Zelda. But have you played WW, TP, and SS? Then you would know that.

Pretty sure Skyrim will be remembered, as well as Mw3. Skyrim because of it's awards and typically RPGs are remembered by the gaming community more often than FPS games or Arcadish games, mostly because either an RPG is awesome, or terrible. FPS and Arcade games typically aren't remembered because there are a ton of them and they have a varied level of how good they are. The only reason MW3 will be remembered is because of sales and bandwagon.

Indeed I think with motion gaming, core games shouldn't be the focus. Games like Wii Sports, Wii Resort, and Wii Playground, are so easily the most fun games for the console it isn't even funny. Same with the Kinect, Kinect Sports is an awesome games, but making games that you can sit down for hours and play shouldn't be the focus. 2D Zelda is the best. Honestly I was done with Zelda after the Gamecube. Wind Waker was the last Zelda game I completed, I could only play SS for a few hours stretched over a few days.

It's pretty much the same with all Nintendo games, the old Super Mario's are awesome. But the new Marios aren't super great like the Game Cube, and even the early DS games were.

I would think it is completely opposite. Pac-Man will never be forgotten. Arcade style games are the ones remembered. RPGs are niche.

Play any FPS game with motion controls, so much better than analog sticks. Metroid Prime really showed that is the case. SS starts slow, once it gets into dungeons its gold. Fighting enemies hasn't been this good in 3D almost like it is in 2D. At least you missed Twilight Princess.

GameCube Super Mario? I would consider that the worst. Galaxy is just the best of 3D Mario. Of course, I think New Super Mario Bros Wii is amazing. Speed runs are fantastic in that game. The limited use of motion control just works right in that game. Wario Land Shake It, really shows how to use motion control the best. Still not as good as Donkey King Country Returns.

Recent Arcade games are forgettable, RPG games are easy to remember if you play them, cause usually there's no other games like them, even if they follow a common path.

Oh I know it is, but people won't play it like that, mostly because you're reliant on your reactions rather than some glitch or exploit. Ehh, combat really doesn't mean much since it's basically the same in every game, for the most part. I like the story, epic moments, and boss fights more than any thing else, Skyrim gives all of that very quickly.

I loved Luigi's Mansion, Was Mario Island the one with the soaker, or was it something Beach? Mario Baseball, and Mario Galaxy were really really cool. I never really got into games other than Wii Sports and Resort with the motion controls. I think this the problem with your generation of gamers, you are so used to using he same control for every thing. Back in my day, you be using different controllers all time, look at some of the old arcade games.

Using motion controls makes SS. Hitting A with every attack just isn't the same. And I never want to go back using an analog stick to aim.
I have played games like Zack and Wiki and Wario Land Shake!!!

I find them truly amazing. I know no interest in playing them, but fork me if I didn't have gun playing them with my boss and his kids. Talk about games for everyone. o.O

Except in Zelda it is different and more importantly challenging. SS shines in boss battles, not a stinker among them.

Never played those games. You should try out No More Heroes, Wario Land Shake It, or Metroid Prime 3 those use motion controls right. I would suggest Zack and Wiki, but there is no way you are finding that game.

That is implying that there is a superiority, when in actuality there really cannot be a superiority of generations made given the vast number of opinions, especially when the concept is something like video games. It depends on the modern preferences, and using our different preferences as an example we can see that they tend to change.

But opinions and preferences are shaped by life experiences. You cannot separate that out from yourself.

No, it just implies you aren't very good with them.
Whether you choose to become proficient is up to you.
It made the game harder. I have yet to see one instance of lag in the game, and I know it when i see it. I did play Zelda on the NES.

I was not suggesting that you separate such things; it's almost impossible to be completely unbiased. It's when any generation considers their opinions to be inherently better instead of being open minded that I see as problematic, but it is something that occurs all the time when it comes to video games.

Except the the "gamer" generation is completely isolated from everyone esle. Either you have expereince with off the wall arcade controls or never really played games before and easily acclimate to an intutive setup.

Leaving the "gamers" confused and bitter about games they can't play or don't like. It probably takes seriously playing 4-5 motion control games to get used to the setup, just like riding a bike or swimming or anything really. But a more than 1 or 2 because you have to unlearn what you already know.
Still if Grandma can play Wii Tennis, it can't be that hard.
