I don't think genjutsu would work on Cass because he is an angel whose consciousness is massive and capable of destroying the mind of anyone who even barely touches it. His true form will instantly incinerate any human who sees it, which I think would happen would because of the visual perception power of the Sharingan.

Castiel snaps his fingers and death follows. Castiel last upgrade was into a being close to god power in his verse.
