Blind: A Meeting

You suddenly come to, to find yourself seated at a large oval table. Seated around you are 8 chairs. Some of them are occupied while others sit empty. No one is speaking. It appears as if they are all waiting.

"Wizard?" You hear a voice say from directly across the table:

You recognize the young man across from you. His name is Al. He's a young wizard, well much younger than you atleast. You once considered him as an apprentice, but after the battle with the Scion you became isolated. Still you saw promise in him years ago. Wonder what he's made of himself now?

Also seated around the table:



There is an empty chair next to O'Ryan. There are two men wearing suits and sour expressions who i don't have NPC cards for. There is also a hooded figure.

Slightly bewildered, I shake my head and take a quick survey of the room. I realize that I have no idea how I entered the room or what the meeting is about. After a moment of intense attempts at recollection, I hear a voice addressing me. "Wizard?"

"I apologize - I was lost in thought. What were we discussing?"

[Kunoichi]

Al gives you a funny look and glances at Harris before slowly replying, "Nothing. We're still waiting for others. Are you sure you're alright? You looked lost for a moment..." he trails off.

Such a meeting was obviously too important to betray ignorance or weakness. "It is nothing - just painful old memories resurfacing."

Al looks uneasy but doesn't press the issue. You all sit in silence for a few more moments... umm roll your empathy and your composure... which you don't know because i never gave you your character sheet damn.

you just do anther roll but you'll count the tens that you have, so look at your post with the roll. When it drops down you'll see your dice are ordered from highest to lowest.

an 8, 9, or 10 counts as a success.

a 10 is a success and a reroll.

So you rolled 2 tens which means you get to roll 2 more dice.

ok so you ended up with three successes, not bad, here's what you notice.

While you wait you observe the room around you. You sense a certain amount of tension, but if you've awakened from your slumber than that's hardly unusual. You notice the two men in suits appear stiff, they seem like rough man familiar with battle. Closer inspection reveals a guild seal on one of their jackets.
You see officer Harris, when you were last awake Harris was police chief, he's aged considerably in that time. He seems weary and anxious. He chats quietly to the Father, a man you've seen once or twice, but not frequenting the church have never really met.

the hooded archer (O'Ryan) speaks to no one. His posture and unwavering manner tell you he's some kind of soldier. The empty seat beside him must be vacant for his superior.

The hooded figure who's face you have not yet seen, also speaks to no one, they merely flip a coin rhythmically passing the time.

You have any questions you want to ask before we start the actual meeting?

Nope, I seriously don't have any good questions that amount to much more than how the heck did I get here.

After another 10 minutes or so of tense waiting, the door opens and a figure stands in the door frame, they immediately make eye contact with Al, who rises to his feet and looks expectantly at the man who appears to be some kind of guard.
"The Archive's dead." at his words all side chatter stops, everyone exchanges glances and worries looks.
"How?" Al finally asked
the guard shakes his had, "We don't know. He's dead though."
After a moment Al takes a deep breath and nods.
"And the others?"
The guard looks down and clears his throat. "With the exception of Void, we couldn't raise anyone else. They've either been... eliminated, or they're whereabouts are unknown."
Again Al nodded. "I see."
the hooded archer cleared his throat, "I don't mean to be rude, but this is a crisis, the world will be over before this meeting is if we don't hurry up and get to the point."
Al clenched his teeth but when he spoke his tone remained even, "You don't want to wait for your-"
"She sent me ahead for this very purpose, when she arrives she arrives, until then we shouldn't waste anymore time."

"He's right." grunted one of the guild suites, "You called us here now we'd like some damn answers."
"Very well." Al said, he turned back to the guard, "When Void arrives send her in."

The death of the Archive caught me unaware. His knowledge was always useful - times of crisis or not. The news of the event quickly intensified the sense of urgency in the room and people began to grow impatient. Al quickly pacified the group and agreed to provide answers. I prepared to listen eagerly to whatever he had to say...

Al begins by introducing everyone at the table
You have already met Al and Harris, you're aware of the Father. The others are strangers to you.

Al introduces the two suits as the First and Seconds in command of the Guild, the Archer is named O'Ryan, he'll be speaking behalf of the SouthSide Sentries. The hooded figure is given no name, he's only stated to be the speaker for the traders union. When Al introduces you he does not call you by name, he refers to you as the Wizard and nothing more.

After brief introductions Al gets straight to the heart of the matter.

"We don't have time to beat around the bush so let's just get straight to the point, approximately 9 hours ago something happened. We all saw the light in the sky, felt the darkness, but so far none of us have been able to figure out just what did happen. Since then the whole city's been turned upside down, half the population of the city seems to have just... vanished. Others report being attacked by strange creatures, dogs made of shadows, strange clouds of pestilence..." Al paused to take a deep breath, "That's why I sent for you all. Since the battle with the Scion this city has been cracked. There is no unity, no united front that we can shield ourselves with. For years we've all stayed out of each others way, but now we need to band together."

All at once Al is interrupted by one of the Guild Suits.

"How do we know this isn't some kind of trick? What reason do we have to trust you?"

(I don't know if you want to say anything, i'm just trying to give you breaks if you'd like to, either ask them or me out of character etc.)
