Do you know something?" The man brandished his remaining rifle, the twin of which lay discarded a few feet away. "I'm over-equipped! I fully expected to have to use both long before getting even to here! Bwa-wa-hahahahahahahee-hee-heeeeEEEE!"--sharp intake--"-AAaaahhh. Hmmm, better. I must exert more control over myself! And to think, I even have a good forty percent of my followers remaining. I'm taking this place, Carmichael, and that is that. Honestly, I never planned to make it so far alive! I just wanted to kill as many of you jerks as possible."

He walked forward, where commotion was building, leaving the man behind him to continue a feeble struggle in his own juices. He brought himself to bear, then began firing the Martian War relic into the crowds with astonishing results. He still had a fight ahead, but he wouldn't need the explosive tip before crossing over. He briefly thought about why he was here, but no one would believe him. Not here anyway. At his back, the full brunt of Candice Meecham's Naval forces burned in atmosphere, the massive chunks falling randomly. Some debris held in-tact reactors that went up planet-side. Most hulls remained intact until impact, spreading corpses to the four winds, their rot slowly poisoning the rivers not even the radiation reached. Behind lay what remained of this system's unique feature--a thousand burning or obliterated garden worlds, here near the galaxy's edge. Ahead there remained but two.

An odd feeling rushes over me as I realize that I am on the outer hull of a starship - did I blackout? How the hell did I get here? As my mind races, I notice a hatch open up and I charge inside almost running into another crewman. As I calm down, I take a survey of the room I entered to figure out what part of the ship I entered and what is going on.
