If it's abuse, it isn't punishment, since one invites a sense of justice, and the other does not. How is it immoral exactly? How is it insane? There was a reduction in mobility, not a removal of mobility.

Within reason, it's unorthadox and a bit odd to say the least. But then again, for anyone who has to go so far was to purposefully restrain their child in such a manner should probably be evaluated by the government agency responsible for investigating child abuse.

Well if the kid acts so unrulely to the point that-that type of restraint is necessary, then I say good job to the parents for taking charge and not letting their kid run the house like so many other parents do.

Don't duct tape them anywhere. Duct tape can hurt when pulled off.

Just send them to their room, or put them in their crib. If they're "immune to corrective behavior" duct tape won't really solve anything. The trick is not to give in or retaliate. Don't let your kid run around wild screwing with everything, but don't duct tape them to the wall either.

There are plenty of better ways to deal with unruly kids than duct tape. Instead of fixing the problem, you're probably just devoloping more issues for your kid and your relationship with said kid. Not to mention the fact that if you're resorted to duct taping your kid in place, you yourself probably have some issues to sort out as well.

I'm not saying this is abuse; it really isn't. That's going a bit too far. It is dumb, though.

That guy said it better than I could. I've tried spanking my siblings when they were toddlers and children and it never worked in correcting their behavior. So taking a step further with restraining them will only cause them to act out even more.

You didn't spank hard enough.

But a parent who knows how to control their kid doesn't need to go to such things as restraining their kids with duck tape, but some kids don't know when to quit. Yelling at the child makes them scream back, timeouts don't work because the kid just won't listen, and a majority of parents are to afraid to spank or hit their kid in any way due to what is considered "Child Abuse" in this day or age, so sometimes you have to find a way to put that kid in his/her place. Unless you know a way that can correct the kids behavior without timeouts of any kind (Sending them to their room, standing in a corner, ect. ect.), verbal warning, or physicality.

I'm not saying resorting to Duck tape is always the way to fix things, not at all, buts it can be an option. Just don't tie em to a wall and leave em there. Maybe to a chair in a corner where they serve their timeout, but not a wall, that's not cool.

Mentally retarded kids are put in a restraining chair. I don't know if their arm are restrained as well, but they do that to them in school. I don't blame them either. So, I think even if the kid is not mentally retarded, it may be necessary to restrain them if they are that out of control. They're some real jerk kids that need it.

There is just something about duct tape, however, that just creeps me out. It doesn't seem okay to me. It hurts to pull off, and it is just messed up to duct tape a kid to a wall...I don't know if it should be considered child abuse or not, but for me, I would never do that to my kid.

Depends on how old they are and where you tape them, if they're a small child taping their mouths could be bad, especially if they have breathing troubles or etc. Now taping an older child because they're being a twit is fine, just don't restrain them tho much. It just depends really, you shouldn't tape you kids to chairs and not allow them to move. Should you be arrested for it? No. Is it necessarily a good thing to do? No. As long as the kid isn't harmed or traumatized it's not abuse.
