Okay, lets update anyone who haven't been paying attention. Jay-Z & Kanye have completed their album Watch The Throne which is set to be released off of itunes 12:00 AM Tonight. Now this album has been done & finish close to a month now and there are no leaks. Let me repeat this: THERE HAS NOT BEEN A SINGLE LEAK OFF OF WATCH THE THRONE.
Okay Your Point Yori? Okay also here is something else: Watch The Throne Reached PLATINUM STATUS in Pre-Order Sales. Okay, this is why this news is so huge: Usually when an album is on its way to release it usually leaks a month or some weeks before its actual release date. This is the reason why so many artists are struggling to compete in the music business and its been hurting record labels badly. Somehow & Someway Watch The Throne has not had one single song leak off its album. Now to the point: I know record label heads are raising eyebrows and taking notes on how Watch The Throne manage to dodge hackers, and it selling over 1,000,000 before its actual release turns heads. So do you think record labels will copy Watch The Throne and start selling their albums digitally through itunes? Oh by the way the physical copy of Watch The Throne doesn't hit stores until the 12th, but that's only through Target & Best Buy.

Props to Jay for doing this. It may cause some stomach aches, but it's necessary, seeing as that nearly every large album release gets leaked early nowadays. Even albums that were recorded in secluded woods got leaked, like Bon Iver.
It's not exactly selling iTunes first that stops the leaks. It's more as of the tight-security presses, secure listening sessions, moving digital and CD release dates from one another in place of simultaneous, shipping them on the last possible hour, and so on. Jay Z explained his methods on a radio show. But either way, I can see some independent retailers being desperate enough to steal off of iTunes or buy copies from big retailers and then sell them off for a slightly higher price.
