Post of the month?

I was thinking a little about how to make the forum more interactive and reward people who took time to make quality posts.

I realized we could start a contest and nominate a "post of the month".

In essence, we agree on some requirement, such as wonderful theory, helpful guides, amazing argument and hilarious post.

Then if people see a post worth mentioning, they can nominate it with a valid reason why it should be chosen and a council (motm helpers most likely) can vote on which post is the best.

I was also thinking the person with the post should get some sort of substantial reward, not as drastic as a member of the month, but perhaps with rep (50? 100?), and/or a custom title and a wall of honor mention.

This seems like a fun idea.

If the MoTM committee is unwilling to monitor this, then we could always find more individuals who may wish to judge.

As for the award, 100 Rep points would be a adequate. Giving out Custom Titles every month may seem excessive, but then again so many people have them anyway, and we are also giving out Custom Avatar privileges out to MoTM. Therefore, I think that is an adequate award as as well. Not too drastic at all.

And are you aloud to nominate your own post?

Anyway, seems like good incentive to actually make good, substantial posts to contribute to conversations. I agree with Nabbers on the rewards. Just might have a little trouble finding compitent users who are willing to be on the council.

If need be, I would not mind at all.

I understand. Also, if those rep adjustments come around then they really would be excessive. A custom title and 50 rep points seems adequate then...as well as the inevitable bragging rights.

I think it's a good idea.

Currently, I don't see any problems with a single person winning multiple times.

If it happens way too often and there are suspicions that the voters are biased, we could form a temporary council to re-vote.

But as I said, it should be an encouragement for people to make quality posts. Quality posts gets repped often as well, and this contest will also highlight those posts.
