Default Versus mode overhaul for UNS: Generation

So here's what I've got in mind on what they can do to beef up the versus mode tremendously.

1. Team versus
2. Tag team versus
3. Air grabs and more air combos in general
4. KnJ needs to take 25% chakra to make combos more "safe" to do
5. Allow costumes to be costumes for one character, don't make them separate characters
6. Offline versus (or even online, just not ranked) needs to have playable transformations from the get-go

and 7. MOAR JUTSUS

In Storm 2, every character had the "Tilt circle" move. Well what if they mapped a jutsu to each direction? Let me give you an example.

Sasuke:

tilt left, fireball jutsu (in air too)
tilt right, chidori stream
tilt down, chidori lased shuriken
tilt up, teleport behind

Or the tilts could just be mapped to the right analog stick.

His main jutsu would of course be Chidori. His tilt left move in Storm 2 could just be a combo in Generation.

As for the ultimate jutsu, it'd be Kirin. Other jutsu would be tied to different transformations, for example:

Sharingan (no jutsu, double speed), Mangekyo Sharingan (jutsu: amaterasu), Curse mark 2 (justu: chidori lament), Susano'o skeleton (jutsu: full Susano'o)

What are your thoughts on this?

These all actually seem like good ideas. But they also seem rather basic, just in that you'd think that they've already thought about it all.

Thanks, I'm sure I'm not the first to come up with these ideas though, I'm just getting it out there so hopefully someone in the development team might see it.

And yeah they sound really "common sense-ish", like all of this should have been implemented in the first place. I don't think it's all for nothing though, they've experimented with what they can do, I just hope they take these steps.

Maybe. I'm not sure how often, if at all, they come by, though. I'm sure they'll take some of these steps, if not all. It's hard to see a better idea. They are simple, yet would really come in handy.

I like these two, but sometimes with the control sticks, since I'm not looking at them, say if I want to flick left, I might flick it like, you know, north-eastish, and that turns it into up instead. Looking at it though, it wouldn't be a problem, unless the combos differ greatly. But I just thought that might happen to others, to, since it can go either way.
But I still think your suggestions are really awesome. I for one would like to start in awakened mode or whatever, without it being overpowered. Kinda like, in the dbz games... Powering up to the next form doesn't make you a god or anything, like it can in storm 2...

They do the 1,2,3,4,5,7 just not 6 but in a different game and its Japanese for the Wii. Awesome Game tho. Recommend that if you prefer actually Fighting and such.

I can see how that'd be a problem for some people. Maybe they could just be mapped to the directions on the right analog stick.

Yeah I love the Clash of Ninja/Gekitou Ninja Taisen series, but well, they're both fighting games, I don't think it's too much to ask that we get a little more depth in Storm. Having more character specific jutsus mapped to the right analog stick or "tilt circle" directions already add much more depth to the characters and fighting. With the addition of more air combos and air grabs, that'd also add much more depth. Sure they might have to re-wire some things, but in the end I think it'd be worth it.

The tilting is a little iffy to me, but I definitely agree with 5. I've always hated how the Naruto games have like three of the same character that just use up character space, and just because he (since it's always either Naruto, Kakashi or Sasuke) has a different costume on. :/

By the way, would anyone else like to see the wall battles from UNS1 return? Maybe they could make it transition smoothly without the black screen swooping over.

I agree Zack, I was basically saying they deff need to utilize what they did in diff shippuuden games and add the best of both worlds.

These sound like really good ideas, but they'll probably have something that will revolutionize the Naruto games. Including your ideas hopefully.

Team battles are highly unlikely...they would essentially have to change the core of the game mechanics to do so...As the game stands, you are locked onto the person youre fighting. In order to do team battles they would have to make a whole new system where youre given the option to lock on...While this isnt TOO much work, its not likely they would make that big of a change in an anime game.

I hope the overhaul means, "fixing the shallow play styles" that plagued this game.

---Fix the projectile problem.
---Fix the subbing problem.
---Fix the lack of technique diversity for any individual character.
---Fix the huge gap between lackluster awakenings and really awesome ones.

Making this game MvC style would be a smart improvement too...literally change the teamwork system in no other way other than adding the ability to switch between guys...and having to kill all three of them.


I've said it before and I'll say it again...the developers of this game need to take a look-see at Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi...

Agreed! I think everything is fine... Other than the gameplay. It definately needs an over haul. The only issue I have with the system is the KNJ system. That just breaks the whole game, it's just too easy to perform.

They should have a longer health meter so they last longer and the awakenings could activate at the same time and the old Ultimate awakening ninjutsu should be used again and there should be jutsu clashes

In all honesty, its not that big a deal. Its how everyone is everyone are saying things thats already in that game. So they just need to utilize that, oh and its not Shippuuden that I love. Its the Japanese Games I play on my PS3,Wii and a 360 ^_^ Those are the best EASY. Some of em dont even make to states. We deff miss half of em. Perfect example is The Last Story. yup.

Japanese Games > American (cept in shooters even though im sick of em already RPG's > )
