The Problem With Gauntlets

I think there should be a restriction on gauntlets. For example if someone wants to make a gauntletthey should state a list of characters in order, since people have different ideas about whos strongest and there are to many characters.

what do you guys think?

I can understand what you are referring to.

Its also helpful if the OP places a condition where the the character still loses he can still move on.

I think they are great at protecting forearms and for laying down challenges. Lets allow their use.

I don't think the problem is the gauntlet itself, it's the way its used.

For example: A Gauntlet thread that states kabuto must fight Through every character from weakest to strongest, it wouldin't work very well because people have different views on whos stronger than who, some might say itachi is stronger than kakashi and others might say vice~versa.

I think the OP means that people should List the characters they must fight against in order, that way debaters must follow the OP's list of characters they must fight against.

Ex: Ino vs Karin= Ino win's
Ino vs Hinata= Ino win's
Ino vs Sakura= Sakura win's.

OR

Ino vs Karin=Ino win's
Ino vs Sakura=Ino win's
Ino vs Hinata=Hinata win's.

Not everyone thinks Sakura is stronger than Hinata, Many think the opposite.

So in the end Gauntlets should be usable, but they should be used in a certain way.

Either way people are going to have their own separate opinions, having a list of characters will just make it slightly more organized. Not easier to come to an agreement.

true, but the list should cause people to post some much higher quality debates instead of saying "oh he beats everyone up to Itachi.... that is all"

That's originally what this section was supposed to be about. But we lost activity so we lifted that restriction. That's why I (and the rest of the council) aren't allowed to lock anymore threads given certain circumstances.

Well I also see another point:

Some character do better against certain people than others

In example:
Even though its generally accepted that Sakura > Tenten
Someone could say a close range fighter would beat sakura.
However, that doesn't mean they beat the ranged fighter of Tenten.

Different characters have things about them that make the list irrelevant because people of lower tier may have the advantage over said character.

Example:

Human Path is lower than sayyyy Rock Lee
However, versus an Edo Tensei Zombie, Human has the only winning factor in his soul rip.
