Spoiler: How Sai Shaft Saved The Ninja World With A Fake Smile :)

Sai Shaft. It was towards the beginning of Shippuden that we were introduced to his character. Back then his role was as "Sasuke's Replacement". He was to be a temporary character to fill the void.
Then we got to learn more about his back story. He wasn't just
"Sasuke's Replacement" he was now "Sai Shaft" with a history
of violence. Even more interesting was his secret mission.
He was prejudged to be a traitor but in truth he was risking his life
to protect the village. If it wasn't for Sai Shaft pretending to join
hands with Orochimaru and being able to find out where Sasuke was
then Naruto, Sakura, and Yamato would likely never find Sasuke.
Even though they failed to bring Sasuke back. Naruto did get to
see Sasuke's power. Which was important because it led to Naruto's
training to learn the FRS (which helped to defeat Pain.)
While everyone else played pretend with Naruto in thinking that
Sasuke is just a victim of unforunate circumstances. Sai Shaft
told Naruto the ugly truth. Sasuke is a traitorous cockroach.
Naruto may have not liked hearing that but eventually he would
have to come to terms with it. Sai Shaft failed to kill Sasuke
because of Naruto's talk-no-jutsu. But Sai Shaft didn't let it
affect him completely. He may have not killed Sasuke but he
still was able to think objectively about the situation unlike
Naruto and Sakura who are biased in that they are Sasuke's friends.
Sai Shaft told Sakura that she needed to come to terms with reality.
Sasuke is a criminal and her wish to Naruto bring Sasuke back was
just unrealistic and cruel. This led to Sakura having to make a tough
decision to try and take Sasuke out herself and while this may
have been foolish on Sakura's part it forced Naruto to deal with the
situation. Sakura did not tell Naruto the truth, but Sai Shaft did.
Naruto finally had to make up his mind on what to do about Sasuke.
No longer could he just fool around with trying to bring Sasuke back
and then trying again when he failed. No. Naruto had to make a choice
on how to deal with Sasuke and he did. Naruto's choice is if Sasuke
does not turn from his evil ways Naruto will kill the both of them.
Naruto then becomes an obstacle to Sasuke's path of vengeance
and forces Sasuke to make a decision. Will Sasuke continue with
his evil ways and risk Naruto forcing a double KO or will Sasuke
see the error of his ways and join forces with Naruto to defeat Madara?
Either way, Naruto pretty much forces a win since Sasuke killing Naruto
is pretty unlikely. But even if it is the Ninja Alliance will solve that problem.
In fact it is only a problem because of Naruto's bond with Sasuke.
Of course others influenced Naruto in his decision but it was Sai
Shaft who told Naruto about Sakura's true intentions which led to
Naruto seeing Sasuke eye to eye again and allowing him to make
his decision. Without Sai Shaft being the voice of reason for both
Naruto and Sakura it's quite possible that they would have continued
in their bias thinking of Sasuke and just trying to save him.
But now that Naruto has made his choice thanks to the wisdom of Sai Shaft it has brought all of Sasuke's attention to Naruto himself instead
of the village. Before Sasuke could just ignore Naruto but now he can't.
Now Sasuke has to deal with Naruto. Sasuke has to choose between
the both of them dying or neither of them dying and turning from his
evil ways. In either case the Sasuke problem is solved. And since
Madara needs the Nine Tails, he can't let Naruto die if his plan is to
work. But 2 out of the 3 results of the final Sasuke vs Naruto fight
will lead to that either 1. Sasuke kills Naruto or 2. Naruto kills Sasuke and himself. With the first Madara loses Sasuke as his pawn and in both
he loses the Nine Tails and his plan fails. And the third?
3. Sasuke turns from his evil ways and joins forces with Naruto to defeat Madara. Not a very good choice for Madara either.
And that my fellow forumers is how Sai Shaft saved the Ninja World.

Wait you forgot one thing. Sai Shaft is the result of Danzo's training. Danzo's goal is to bring peace to the ninja world mostly by destroying Madara and/or Sasuke.

Since Sai Shaft has caused Naruto to come to his senses and present a road block to Sasuke' destructive tendencies. Sai Shaft has stopped both Sasuke and possibly Madara.
Therefore, Danzo has succeeded.
