Just saying that Kakuzu didn't kill the First, he just battled him, Kakuzu lost and got punished severely for failing his mission so he stole the hearts of his elders and fled his village...

Try re-reading the Tsunade search Arc, and also rewatch episodes 13-15 of Shippuden. Kisame fights alot in all of those.
