As Kishi has been doing recently, I predict that the major characters will be completely neglected and Kimimaro will fight some random, stupid minor character. Maybe Akatsuchi or Baki.

Nonono, if Kimimaro is going to fight anyone alone it has to be Jugo. For one thing, Jugo's Curse Mark gives him much potential with transformations, both partial and complete. Narutopedia also states that Kimimaro can perform partial transformations with his Curse Mark as well, meaning that a fight between Jugo and Kimimaro wouldn't be boring, or just more of the same. However, it's more than the fighting that would make the matchup best for Kimimaro.

Jugo is the only person alive who still has a personal connection to Kimimaro. Orochimaru is dead, Kabuto is controlling Kimi, and Gaara and Lee are off fighting different battles. As far as we know, Jugo is the only person Kimi's even met that's still available to fight him. If the author wants to make a fight with Kimimaro interesting at the level of the relationship between characters, Jugo must be the opponent.

Jugo himself also needs this matchup, literally. If Jugo went out of control again, there'd be no one to stop him, because Sasuke has already betrayed him and is far away in Mountain's Grave. Kimimaro is now the only person who can supress Jugo's killing impulses, so Jugo has to face Kimi. Plus, Kimimaro cared deeply about serving Orochimaru's ambition, and this was re-established when Kimi spoke of Oro's chakra flowing through him. Jugo could tell Kimimaro about Orochimaru's death, and further about Sasuke, who Kimi died for to ensure he reached Orochimaru.

Until this fight happens, the most Kimimaro's role in the story will amount to is showing up to kill dozens of fodder. Once Jugo and Kimi reunite, they'll fight a bit, and Jugo is going to talk Kimimaro into peace. Jugo is the only person capable of it to begin with, and he would do that for Kimi.

(P.S. Looking at it, just as many people want to see Kimi fight Jugo as do want to see a rematch, but I already wrote this kinda long post and don't want to just get rid of it.)

As for Lee vs Kimimaro. Lee would win. When they fought before Lee
was still injured and could only go up to the first gate which was able
to bend but not break Kimimaro's bones. If Lee went four gates then
he would probably shatter the bones.

For many of you who say lee would lose against kim... re-asses the fact that the New generation shinobi have all surpassed their sensei... (at least that's the hint throughout the whole manga now)

Sasuke surpassed Oro,
Naruto surpassed Jiraiya so let's not leave Rock Lee out...especially for someone who trains harder than anybody. So i'd say by all means, as of now,
Rock lee has surpassed Gai Sensei... And if that be the case, I dont see Kimmimaro ever defeating Gai on any level... That being said... we can assume Lee would level Kimmimaro... what do u say? agreed?

He was only dull because he was using all his energy to keep himself upright. Zealous types rarely are exciting, admittedly, but I'd like resolution to his story. And to see him die again, brutally.

True Kimimaro was sick but so was Lee. Lee was only able to go 1 gate.
There's a huge difference between 1 gate and 5 gates. Since the bones
were already starting to bend at 1 gate they would shatter at 5 gates
meaning that Kimimaro would be defenseless and he would not have
time to defend himself. Gaara's sand is stronger than Kimimaro's bones
and even then Gaara still got hurt from Lee's Reverse Lotus. Lee wins.

To be honest I think Kimimaro is overrated. Yes he was very ill and almost killed Gaara and Lee.
But Lee had just been recovering from injuries that would paralyze a normal person for life.
Gaara had already been shown that his sand is stronger than Kimimaro's bones (yes it had
the minerals and what not. But at the same time Kimimaro had to concentrate his bone power
but it still shattered.) Gaara and Lee were caught off guard at the very end and they wasted
a lot of chakra trying to figure out how to fight Kimimaro. A full health Lee would just need
to go 5 gates and shatter Kimimaro's bones and defense. I don't think buy into the hype that
Kimimaro's bones would just negate the impact. Yes, Lee did say that Kimimaro's bones absorbed
the impact but that was at 1 gate when Lee had just gotten out of the hospital. I wouldn't
be surprised if a healthy Lee at 1 gate could break Kimimaro's bones with great effort.

You know, you actually had me rethink my opinion of him. He really is overrated, isn't he? Maybe we'll get to see his real power this go-round.

Indeed, and the only saving grace, character-wise, was Juugo as a counterpoint. Juugo's far more interesting, but their shared past helps Kimimaro out, somewhat. Juugo is or was devoted to Sasuke, but never as blindly as Kimi to Oro and Kabuto, or Kabby as I'll call him. Juugo's essentially the salvation of Kimi's character, perhaps literally if he gets there. But spiritually as well, should Kimi get owned.

No, his ability IS awesome indeed. But I don't think his abilities will be passed on. Unless he impregnates some poor Alliance Kunoichi and the Kaguya Clan rises again!
