Death Penalty

I don't like it, but it serves a purpose. Long post short, I don't really think it's necessary and I'd like to see it gone, but I think humans as a society need to evolve just a bit more before that happens.

Hmmm, I dunno. As a lowest form of punishment, I would suggest forcing any given person to live with their hands bound behind their backs. With wire at least. There's also life in prison. I consider justice to be ensuring that someone who commits a crime can't commit the same crime again. In that case, there's quite a few things you could do before resorting to death. I'd make other suggestions, but I think they might be considered inhumane by some, or unnecessary.

The thing is, there needs to be more personal-level ensurance that someone won't commit a crime again before they're let out of jail. That way, repeat offenders don't exist. People who don't learn don't leave. The only complication I see is that that would take a lot of money, and require a lot of jobs. There'd have to be some type of person whose job was to literally interview a criminal and see if they truly regret anything they did and are ready to leave. As far as I know, in today's jails it's more of a "You got so-and-so time until you get out". Some people may come to regret what they'd done long before that time comes, and at the same time some people may be prepared to commit the same crime again as soon as they get out.

Since you don't killing for whatever reason,how about cutting there hands off?
I say they should just die because a lot of them won't regret it and even if they do,what the h*ll is that supposed to mean?As for letting them rot,it is possible to escape prison and then more people die.Plus why the *censored* should my money be used to keep some worthless trash alive and help them have it easier than I do?

That's what I was trying to avoid suggesting. My biggest problem with that is whether others would accept such a punishment. (Not criminals, just the majority.)

Point 1 is true. Point 2: If they regret it it means they won't do it again. If they don't regret it then they'll die in a cell, alone like the pathetic, unwanted trash of society they are.

If a criminal has it easier than you do your country is fricked up no matter what happens to the criminal.

The heck? That's where I say it's revenge; In a scenario where you're ensured one will do no more harm you wish to inflict pain because of past harm. That's pointless. The hell is the point of punishments: To get revenge or to make someone think what they did was wrong? When the latter's already been accomplished you're the only one left to hate for not letting it die.

Only the intelligent ones. And really, it's not like it happens often that someone who would normally have the death penalty and didn't get it just escapes.

I honestly have no problem with revenge and I enjoy being hated.Yes,the point is to make them regret it,but by your logic if a guy bombs a town or worse,a country and manages to avoid getting caught everyone should just forget about it after some time has passed because it was a long time ago,despite the fact that he took thousands of lives.

But it can still happen.

i am a little more for it. it also depends on what the crime is.
but i also can see the other view for it. we are also talking about this in class. people also say that giving the death penalty is a easy way out for the criminal. if they were to sit in prison to rot and be tortured, then that would have a bit more meaning than just to kill that person.
but i'm holding onto my idea that it should be used. if u were to let the person out or stay in jail and enjoy tv, food, etc....then it's not that justified.

To be honest, I am a big believer that time changes everyone. So me, I would say prison would be a better punishment, although I'm not going to say I think its wrong.

The Death Penalty has served good purposes in a lot of cases, and many wrong (sadly). But if someone were to kill your parents you wouldn't want them to die? If someone shot the president, they don't deserve to die? Its common knowledge to know that some people do deserve to die.

I don't know any death sentences that were wrong to be honest, but I don't watch people get killed everyday or look up random cases like it were a history book.

When the heck did I say anything like that? I never said anything about forgetting about a crime when someone hasn't been caught. I said when someone has been caught, punished, and actually regrets having done it, is when you forget about it. If he bombs a town the least that gets done is hunting him down, beating him up, and throwing him in jail for an incredibly long period of time. It's one thing to try and twist my words around but those aren't even my words.

So if a dude bombs a town/country/whatever and kills a loads of people,the worst he should get is a few years in jail?That's Bull*censored*.

That is Bull considering it still happens.
Even then:
It's quite hypocritical to kill someone just because they broke the Law.
Those who kill aren't one bit better then as they still take a Life.

Taking something as precious as a Life for whatever reason is unforgivable in my eyes.

Just because the Law decides the Person should die it doesn't change the fact the person who does it is also a Murderer for taking a Life.
