VERY disappointed with how Kishi handled Sasori. I thought Kishi would please the Sasori fans with his revival, but it only brought more disappointment. He's had so little screen-time for someone of his power. I don't know why Kishi refuses to expand on Sasori's character.

Kankuro understood him and knew what to say, but that doesn't mean he surpassed him since he has a long ways to go till he reaches something like Kage Level or 100 puppets. Though the only BS about it is that Sasori didn't get to show much due to his lack of puppets.

Those are two totally different questions. But first:

Yes, Sasori's second death was the cause of Talk no Jutsu. But I'm not slamming it. In fact, Kankuro couldn't have said what he said better. It was a good death for Sasori, better than his first. Most of the people slamming it are fanboys who wanted to see Sasori ownage and didn't get any, in my opinion.

And surpass? In some aspects, yes. Kankuro is much more efficient with chakra strings, being skilled enough to attach them to other chakra strings, and he used the same technique to operate multiple of Sasori's puppet mechanisms at once. He isn't nearly able to control a hundred puppets at a single time, though, and that's something he can never surpass Sasori in. However, he has demonstrated more tactical genius than Sasori. Whether he's legitimately surpassed Sasori is debatable, but it really depends on what you mean by surpassing.

If it wouldn't have been TnJ then Sasori wouldn't have faded away.

Well as far as his soul being released, yes it was TNJ.

But as far as his actual defeat which was when he was outfought and trapped by Kankuro.....no it had nothing to do with TNJ. Sasori (who was still easily stronger than Kankuro) was simply a victim of circumstance. He was revived kind of useless due to being in a non-puppet body and not having any of his puppets. Think about it. Every technique he knows revolves around having one of his puppets. He really never stood a chance in the situation he was brought into.

Sasori didn't even have any of his real puppets and plus he didn't act like a skilled Akatsuki much at all. So I think it's fair to say that this was simply a plot point for Kishimoto to tie up the loose end that was Kankurou and Sasori.

Kankuro did not surpass him. He just got through to him enough emotionally to make Sasori's soul go to rest.

If Sasori was alive and had all his puppets he would still demolish kankuro.
