Dutch humor vs. American humor

Hi all, welcome.

I'm speaking for The Netherlands since I don't know how the
humor is in other countries in Europe. Might be the same.

In the beginning on this forum, I had a lot of trouble understanding Americans.
They have this humor .. saying things negative, but mean it as a joke (positive).
Here in the Netherlands we most say happy stuff, but mean it sarcastic.
Like ... 'Nice shirt!' You: 'Yeah, I look so sexy!' /happy face /sarcastic face
In the US: 'Dayum girl, dat shirt is ugly as elmo' for example.
While you guys actually mean: OMG lovin' your shirt!

So yeah... did other Europeans experienced this also?
If you're American and you think this is not correct, correct me

First off it's humour over here apparently... and I dunno... anything dirty I guess... humour doesn't have boundaries to me though.

Jinny and Meg usually make me laugh.

We make light of almost anything, any way we can, Kiseki. You'll see humor of all stripes here. They have one thing in common: it's all predicated upon hate and envy.

Hard to know when we be serious on forums or no.
