Do you agree with the ''Don't Ask,Don't Tell Rule''?

I don't really agree to it. Why can't gays (and before you start flaming,I never said that as a bad thing) can't tell about there own lifes? I just can't believe it had to come to this.

Whats your opinion?

With the way John MacCain has come out on this issue, I'm glad he wasn't elected president. Although, if he was for the repeal i'd still be glad.

This is a lot more complicated than it seems.

It would have just been easier if the Clinton administration had never passed that bill in the first place.

I am for the repeal of DADT, because it hurts us more than it helps us. These are all issues we are going to need to get past at some point. I say we should start now.

Well, I'd say it would've been a good and bad thing, the minds of gays on this issue is mixed, so you can't really say. However, I believe this kind of thing applies to all types of secrets and such, and it is more justified than unjustified because it doesn't do anything wrong as a widespread accepted RULE, but as law, that's enforcement

There is my life and than there is their life.
I wouldn't care if you were gay, straight, or dating a monkey. As long as your doing your job which you are suppose to and staying on topic.
Example :We are being shot at by insurgents and we need a plan and you start telling me about your daughter, wife, husband, partner etc. When you need to be brain storming a plan with me to get us both out alive. Than I would be kinda PO'ed.
I don't want to hear about your personal life at all and I would share my own with you. I prefer genuine conversations that does not involve ALL THAT.

I am against DADT for the sole reason that I believe ones sexual orientation should play absolutely NO part in whether or not they can serve in the armed forces. I understand why it was initially impleneted; to allow one who is gay to serve in the military by simply not disclosing that information. However, asking someone to hide a considerable portion of their being, for fear of losing their job is unethical in my eyes.

Epic bump, and you do realize that it was repealed back in December? I think it should have been repealled but that doing it in the middle of a war and not waiting for the military to find a way to implement the repeal was stupid

I was wondering if this was really seriously popping up in Feb when it was repealed in Dec. xD

But yeah, I was totally against it, obviously. I saw no real need to hide a part of life for a job that has nothing to do with sexuality. P: I thought being in the armed forces meant having intelligence, power, etc.

I think it's a stupid law, but I don't even know why the hell their worried about this when they have a war they need to be focused on (nothing against the fact it has to do with the gays just so you know) but I agree with TTMOI, it's fine, as long you do your job and not go off about you're history or sexuality at a random and wrong time
