The history of rocket warfare goes as far back as over a thousand years, starting with the korean Hwacha artillery. As time progressed, the Alexshinian Imperial Army worked hard on developing an effective type of rocket warfare that did not only have destructive power and high rate but also improved accuracy. Eventually the fearsome Gamma 21 was born, from the chaos of WWII, where huge armies attacked on an open field - a perfect opportunity for a good missile barrage. The Gamma utilized a system of no less than 40 rocket pods that fired one at a time, with a rate of 2 rockets per second. After the final pod had launched its rocket, the starting launcher would have been reloaded by mechanical arms, and the barrage would continue forever.
Though mainly looked upon as a mass-destruction weapon that should be used for erasing major cities, the Alexshinian military protocols forbid civilian casualties. However, during battles where the enemy was in large concentrations, such as the Battle of Fort Alexander, the Gamma 21 was a destructive weapon that wiped out thousands of men in a minute.
Sharing many similarties with the Russian Katyusha class of artillery, the Gamma 21 was one of the very few cooperations with Sovjet that ever occured by the Alexshinian Empire. When Nazi Germany turned on Alexshinia in 1944, peace was signed with Russia and a number of Katyusha was brought into service of the Empire. After this, the Gamma 21 could be improved even further.
In modern days, the Gamma 21 is very much modified from the inaccurate WWII artillery. Now it is mainly deployed for either anti-aircraft duty or shore defense, depending on model.
