actually kakuzu mostly did, hidan was just there to get his ass kicked by shikamaru. hidan never really intrested me at all so to speak, if he wasn't immortal then he'd be dead by then.

shikamaru isnt that strong hidan is way stronger but he lost his cool which led to his downfall and suckmaru got lucky plaind and simple that hidan and kakuzu didnt kill him the first time around

PnJ had nothing to do with it Shikamaru used strategy and actually planned for that to happen. He literally planned how he was going to off Hidan from the very start.

He used Shadow Possession to bring him to the very spot he laid the trap.

Shikamaru may not be all that cool but he is freaking smart with an IQ over 200.

Hidan was one of the best akatsuki in my opinion.He actually killed someone. not a lot of them do so that does make him strong
