I honestly consider Kakashi to be the most talented Ninja in Naruto. (Not saying he is the strongest by any means) Despite not being a Uchiha he managed to take his Sharingan to a great level. Not only that, he is almost as smart as Shikamaru if not on a similliar level since he commented on that a while back during the fight with Dediara I believe. Anyway, when you have someone as smart and talented as Kakashi, even Mangekyo is possible to achieve :o. Even without directly killing someone.

He used a jutsu (When he was chasing Deidara, that ritual and hand sign) which allowed him to use it for a limited time.

Activating the Mangekyo-Sharingan drains alot of Chakra plus using the jutsu; Kakashi is always in bed resting due to lack of Chakra-(Regardless of Mangekyo).

my theory revolves around the obito = tobi theory.

somehow obito didnt die when kakashi thought he did. observe kakashis sharingan eye. its on the left side. the same side as ones heart would be giving the possibilty of obito surviving some merit. look at tobi. his sharingan eye is on the right. the side of obito that was "crushed". look at their extremely similar sharingan powers. both warp time and space. this could be because the mangekyou sharingan eyes are seperated. but the point of this thread is how KAKASHI obtained the mangekyou sharingan. kakashi probaly didnt do ANYTHING. This awakening of the mangekyou sharingan could be a result of obito awakening his sharingan. he theoretically read the tablets that shows you how to get the mangekyou sharingan. how do you get it? by killing someone close to you. who could obito have killed that was close to him? RIN. we dont know how or if rin was killed. she could have became a rouge ninja, leaving kakashi to say he couldnt save her. obito could have killed her during the time skip, resulting in kakashi and TOBI AKA obito getting the mangekyou sharingan simultaneously during the timeskip. after all it is obitos eye. thos is my theory. the only question is how obito could have survived. comments?

So that could have awakened it, yet he kept it secret and has been training all of these years to master it.

Only in the anime was it 2.5 btw, because they counted the fillers, in the manga Naruto left right after he returned from his fight at the Final Valley


And please, can people STOP WITH THE TOBI=OBITO THEORIES?! Tobi had his left eye shown when he fought Konan, he used Izanagi and replaced the lost eye with a Rinnegan. Besides, what motivation would Obito have to basically destroy the whole world and start the biggest war ever? None, Obito was a good guy and his body was crushed. It's not impossible but it's highly unlikely.


Edit: Oh and I forget where but I read that all you need is the emotional stress to awaken Mangekyo, so killing someone close to you could be a sub-category to fit in for "emotional stress". Kakashi, Itachi, and Shisui all awakened it somehow besides killing the one closest to them, and if I remember correctly Sasuke's awakened a bit AFTER he killed Itachi, and how Madara/Izuna got it isn't clear either.

Anyways the only time it was said to kill someone close to you is Itachi telling this to Sasuke... Which as we all know Itachi isn't exactly... trustworthy... especially not towards Sasuke lol. I believe it was also stated that Madara and Izuna awakened theirs through attempts at surpassing eachother and constant training, which could easily be the case for Kakashi/Itachi/Shisui.

That could be true. Maybe Rin died because of something he did by accident, which counts as killing her. After all, Rin had to die somehow.

Just by the way, you don't have to kill your best friend to get MS. You just have to go through an emotional truama LIKE your best friend dying. I think Kakashi might have put a genjutsu on HIMSELF to awaken his MS. That also might be how Shisui got it (by making himself think Itachi died). Also, Itachi got it by helping Shisui commit suicide, not killing him directly. Sasuke also. Itachi died because of an illness, yet watching him die made Sasuke's MS awake.
