Well, out of all Animes/Manga, it's usually unlikely, for any main Character to loose a fight, if they ever do, it's usually only once, in Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh, it was the same. I am sure that it is similar in a variety of other cases to, such as in Black Cat, so mostly, it's always in the plot, that the main Character, has to at least loose one battle, just to have some great life/plot changing experience, which usually ends up changing there Character, completely, in some way or form, so really, it was due to happen ...

What Ash lost more fights than Ichigo and Luffy put together.

Anyway there has been many anime heroes who barely loses a fight like Tsuna, Naruto, BoBoBo, and ........

To answer your question:

Since most of Naruto's battle are do or die and the enemies he face are never in a merciful mood unlike most anime villians who most of the times spare their victims he kinda have to win.

Also NARUTO IS THE BEST!

simple, he is aweeeeesome!!!!!
he has the power of persuation. the will of fire. he trains all the time. he loves his friends. he can transform all his anger into a determination to saving his friends. and one more thing, the power of the kuuybi helps him so greatly but we should not underestimate Naruto's strength.

simply he is awesome.
